Quick help! When I click on a message "go to event" view window goes blank (blue)

I am in an AWESOME game against the AI and have been playing for 1.5 hours so I'm on pause until somrone can hopefully help me out. It's some kind of "viewing" issue.


At the top of the screen I got a message that the enemy was detected. I wanted to see who it was (and where) so I double clicked it. And my view screen went blue like I was viewing some area way off in the distance where nothing resided. When I click my commander or any group it is not re-centering on them, it just has me in this stupid blank area. Can someone help me get the screen back? Earlier I did a picture in picture and it came back as it swapped the blank/blue for my planet, but now both are blue/blank.

pressing f5 should do the trick.
