A number of people have been asking for sandworms on desert planets. Personally, I have been opposed to this because losing a game due to random events is simply not fun for anyone. On top of that, random events are a confirmed no. It would just suck to lose your main army because of a random sandworm. However, I had an idea. What if it wasn't random? What if there were... cave like things where the sandworms dwell. You then send fabricators to these caves which then construct a control collar on the sandworm and then you CONTROL A FREAKING GIANT SANDWORM. That'd be fun.
It'd be interesting to see however adding another 'race' to the game wouldn't seem right in a game like PA.
Don't think of it as a new race, but instead, it's a new unit that. It would be a little weird to see an organic unit in a game with only robots... but it'd still be cool.
Agreed. Which is they this is a controllable unit rather than a random sandworm that destroys everything.
You're broken. For reference, here's the original discussion with a whole bunch of balance ideas: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/coherent-sandworm-ideas.57251/
A normal unit with similar tunneling capabilities for stealth could be interesting as well, while staying consistent with the robotic nature of the rest of the game. Not sure if it should be armed, or some kind of transport, but it would definitely be a cool unit.
