just let us be able to change orbits and park planets next to other planets and you could do that anyway
From what I hear, halleys and lasers tend to cause crashes. So if you activate halleys before the metal planet engages, the metal planet probably won't be able to target it.
And what if the planet is destroyed by the laser while your units is on the way to that planet? This is easy to try I guess.
Just tested it. It works. Nah, just kidding. When you choose to smash a planet the laser is deactivated. If you choose to laser a planet first and then send to annihilate, the lasering process is cancelled.
