    PA should do that.

They could do that along with release, or wait a few weeks, or something.

Either way, it would be pretty cool.

best wait, the player numbers will peak as it is, killing performance. after first update would be my plan.

Yeah, possibly when offline/custom servers are there.

Also, free weekend = discount. Doubt any dev would want release a game and go 50-75% off right away.

Free weekend coinciding with release? At best, your revenue stream is delayed/skewed by a weekend. At worst, a fair deal of the free players decide not to buy afterwards, while still negatively impacting game performance/enjoyment of actual buyers on release day or shortly after. Especially in the light of PA being dependent on Uber's servers, this might prove fatal.
High risk, low reward, a mad move in my book.

low reward? The reward is a lot of people buy the game after buying it. That's the whole point of a free demo.

I'm seeing a trend though... a trend that we need offline... (and server!)

I think it would be best to wait until sales from the game are essentially non existent before making it free. Otherwise players may try and then never buy, whereas if the game hadn't gone free they would have purchased anyway.

This would be a good idea following the release of the server code. As it stands the online only will just turn droves of people away. Plus we'll need fresh blood to fill the epic 100 man lobbies Brian has promised to provide free of charge. :p

Hey now. Never said free of charge.

I'll be making servers available for rent. I also plan on making some server slots free as I can afford them... but servers add up quickly and I've already invested way too much money in PA Matches.
