ah... haha, nice idea, try to starve the AI, i'll try that i rule the planet that i start on, but the AI has already blasted off to another moon today, for the first time, i successfully star-lifted a dozen advanced builders and my commander to that moon, but AI had already built an big airforce and instantly squashed me like a bug rat bastard! your KIS whitelisting tip helped get me going, but 'something' is creeping in and killing the ssl link everytime, dammit! a full reboot fixes me every time, so... i'm okay with that such a great game, devs! i just stumbled on PA by accident a week ago today!
i wonder if one of the reasons why i can't get back in after i finish a game is because, after i view the stats and graphs, the 'return to main menu' button doesn't seem to do anything, forcing me to close the exec from windows task bar each time?
That's a UI crash. If you are a Windows user, posting your Dxdiag would be very helpful. Instructions are in my signature below.
okay, here's my dxdiag, but it doesn't feel all that 'crashy' to me, as i can re-view my stats and run the replay normally from that last screen, just the 'return to main menu' button mostly ignores me i see it blink when i click it, so... that's something similar to the 'quit PA' button when i press ESC... i see the confirmation box, but 'yes' does nothing
Try updating your graphic card driver software to the lastest 14.7 beta AMD cards seem to be sensitive with PA http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows 7 - 64#amd-catalyst-packages
beta drivers sure made a big difference in general gameplay 'snappiness' but 'go to main menu' still only blinks at me after a click and ESC menu operates normally, until i click on either 'main menu' or 'quit pa' i see the verify? popups, but these too only blink after a click
I see that you're using a laptop: Code: System Manufacturer: Acer System Model: Aspire 4820TG Do you use Wi-Fi or a router to connect to the internet? Also, are you sure you can play the game with 1 GB of VRAM? Code: Card name: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series Dedicated Memory: 1013 MB
wifi this laptop is pretty old, and i've only tried 2-3 planet systems and only against AI... but i'm very pleased with the overall graphics optimization and general gameplay response. and the AI and i almost carpet the planet's surface with units before i poke the hornet's nest, so... thank you, devs!
