I was still figuring out what you guys needed and the game was already gone, everyone left. Controls almost didnt respond anymore.

    Hi JorisK,

Great info. You did miss the Sim screenshot. Did you take it but not upload it maybe hopefully? When I re-run your game locally the Sim runs just fine. It should look something like this.

    upload_2014-8-11_13-45-59.png

We're looking for two things. We want it to be running at 10fps and we want doSimTick to be under 100ms. If both those things are true then the Sim is running well. If the Sim is taking longer than 100ms, and in a 5 minute game it most certainly should not be, then that's the problem.

I'm little confused because according to the client screenshot your game is running at damn near 60fps.

When people say "lag" they really mean one of like 10 different things. Bad server tick rate, bad client frame rate, high ping, dropped packets, etc. I'm having difficulty establishing what exact type of lag you and your friends are experiencing. You guys appear to be... Dutch I think? And playing on EUWest I believe.

All the data you provided is most excellent. It's eliminated a lot of things. But I really really need that Sim perf screenshot to help narrow it down further.

    Loki,

Thanks for the help. The driver is up-to-date, dxdiag shows the date in US date style, so MM/DD/YYYY.

But i found some funny stuff:
Usually I always create games myself, as i don't like the 10+ planet maps lots of people create. All maps i created have been created in the past (months/maybe even a year+) and have been changed a bit through the year, to do some tiny tweaks.

Tonight for the first time in ages, i joined someone elses game, and guess what: no lag. I have been playing for like 20 minutes (couldn't make it any longer as i got owned by someone) but didn't noticed any massive lag.

Could this be a map issue? When i load my maps in the mapeditor and press the simulator button, it simulates correct, showing no collisions whatsoever. I also have the massive lag on a single Scale 5 moon map i usually played.
This massive lag we are facing is since the previous patch, not the current one.

Oops, i didn't took that one, i missed it.... :(

It's getting late here and don't have a lot of time anymore to help troubleshooting. I will do that tomorrow.

But, take a look at what i wrote to Loki:

Is there a way i can send you the map files? Or do you think this has nothing to do with the map?

It could very well be a map issue. Large planets cause a variety of issues. I can load your planets on my dev machine thanks to the replay file. They don't immediately cause a problem. Not even with a whole bunch of scout planes on patrol, which as mentioned can cause problems.

All this is to say I really really really need that Sim perf screenshot. :)

I deleted a bunch of posts. There was nothing horribly wrong with them. Don't feel bad if something you said got deleted. I'm trying to understand and fix JorisK's issue and they were getting in the way by creating clutter. We don't need half the posts in this thread to be about driver versions.

Where are we showing a planet scale value in the game? All I see are radius values.

Both planets are scale 4 i believe. (dunno the exact radius)

I will try to fetch the sim info @ CTRL+P tonight when i have more time.
