Developers - FYI on a performance issue. I know I don't have the latest and greatest laptop system, but I have zero performance issues with any other RTS games such as Starcraft or 1st person shooters such as Call of Duty, etc. However, I've got some major problems loading this game. It takes 10-15 minutes to load a planetary battle. Once there though it runs smooth as silk, just like starcraft, even with the 100s of units. But the load time....wow, it's terrible to get to the battles and in the meantime the graphics are all choppy, the planet textures are frozen and SLOWLY fill in until finally the battle is ready to start. All drivers are updated (I think) and I've tried every forum performance tip, lowest settings, highest settings, everything but no dice. Here's my specs. If anyone has suggestions right now would be much appreciated or maybe as you develop and stabilize performance hopefully it's helpful to you.

First of all increase "virtual memory / page file" to something like 12GB:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7

Then make sure you set "virtual texture" to "low" because your GPU won't able to handle anything higher.

Hi again, the "Minimum Allowed" for the paging file is already 16MB. Should I increase it to something else other than 12?

16MB is very small. Setting that to 16GB is 1000 times bigger.

ok here's what it shows in the Virtual Memory setting window:

Total paging file size for all drives:

    Minimum Allowed: 16MB

Sooo, in the Custom setting size section, I checked that and put in 20 where it says max allowed:

    Initial Size (MB):
    Maximum Size (MB): 20

NOW it works with virtually no load time, so problem fixed. Game works perfectly!! I don't know what any of that means, but it did the trick. LOL, what exactly have I done just to satisfy my curiosity.

This is really not something you should do. Instead you need to set 10240MB as minimal and 12288MB as maximum.

No idea, but if you actually decreased page file size it's will likely cause full system lockup/crash once you try to load game with actually large planet.

ok, yeah, i just entered what you recommended for min/max, but this time created a large system and it was slow, took maybe 5 minutes to load. Then compared it to just one planet and it loaded really fast. So overall a definite improvement. Thanks for the tips. Guess I need a new system to play this as intended but am low on funds right now :(

You have a better system the me actually. I run a q6600 with hd 4000 series. If I we're you I would add some more ram (you've only got like 4 gigs wich isn't that much).

I went from 4 to 6 and its a really big difference. Loads up way way faster and i can join in on bigger games. The upgrade ain't that expensive either
