So, I've been tracking how many games I get to finish in Excel. It's 68%; less than 50% if the game goes on longer than 30 minutes. Before anyone says anything about my specs: GTX 770 2GB 8 GB DDR3 Corsair RAM Intel i7 i975 extreme Running on a 2 TB WD hard drive 1000W Corsair Power Supply I'm sure those all have model numbers, but I'm not going to look them up. Drivers are all up to date; virus scan comes up clean; etc. I don't know what the issue is, but it's hard to look forward to a game when I have to fight against your server boss first. I'm trying to be patient, but there's no way you should be releasing a 1.0 in this state.
They're the "everything stops moving" type. Where I can still interact with the game, but the simulation has stopped dead. Quitting and reconnecting is not successful, and even if it was, it takes like 5 minutes to do that; which is an eternity in this game. The client runs "okay". The UI is quite wonky; loading times can be painful, especially on large systems. Last game, I loaded in and tried to determine where to land with my partner, but the timer started and the "Start Annihilation" bar was there the whole time once I landed. Resetting UI with F5 did not solve the problem.
Are ya'll trolling OP? memorylapse, you might be acting a tad aggravated and that is understandable, regardless this is a serious issue and is part of why I prefer to play on smaller planets and therefore have shorter matches. It's a serious problem with PA and if not addressed somehow, either by limiting planet sizes more harshly and number of planets or by improving the netcode, this game will not do well with critics.
Here's my Internet speed. I don't think it's the problem: speedtest.net/result/3671283802.png And ping test: pingtest.net/result/103451095.png
Sim freezes. I had them when Statera was doing something the sim didn't like, disabled that behavior and they stopped happening. I have no idea why exactly a certain behavior will do it sometimes.
Hopefully you can get this sorted out, as the servers don't crash for me, also what region are you in? Also this kinda should be moved to the support forums.
I'd kill for that internet How are you connecting to your router? Wired or wireless (it's unlikely, but wireless could be part of it, though I run fine on it.) Also, router model number? My router will sometimes crash if there is too much load or whatever. (Stupid ac dual-band routers... all crap.) Any idea of the game ID's? Perhaps Uber could troubleshoot more if it is server-side and you can give them some extra info.
I doubt it's your connection. If you build thousands of units and have multiple huge planets the server could get very slow and crash. I'd like to see a pic/video of the game when the sim stops. Including the unit stats, server stats, and the system.
I often get this, but only on games with many planets and thousands of units. So I think we're just overloading the servers. It especially tends to happen in the middle of a planet smash.
Uhm, sim freeze would actually indicate some type of infinite loop / infinite recursion. Which is a pretty severe bug. Well, either that, or starvation of the entire server process, even though this should only bring down sim speed to a minimum, but not cause a full stall. (Not to be mistaken for server crash, where the entire server application probably segfaults or at least terminates, also resulting in a connection loss and inability to reconnect. Problems with netcode would more likely result in random disconnects, lost updates and alike, but not full stall.) And then there is also the possibility of OP having triggered pause in Chronocam by chance. Any way: Please activate performance panel ingame (ctrl+P), toggle through until server FPS panel and take a screenshot of that.
