Hi there, I've played some galatic wars but, I get stuck at every one when trying to battle one faction leader or another. Despite the fact that I've defeated all the other commanders, as I don't have air, spatial or naval tech, I just can't defeat a faction leader. I always got duplicates techs or advanced techs, but the only "complete tech" card I ever got is the vehicule one. Pretty handy for a regular commander, but almost unusefull when batteling a faction leader. So my question is, is there a trick that I'm missing to get the air, naval or spatial tech ? PS: I'm always keeping a databank empty to be sure to be able to reclaim a tech.
Nope, I'm afraid not. The techs you discover are entirely random - you can go through the entire Galactic War and never find the tech you're looking for. There are times at the moment where it seems you just have to abandon the effort and start again ...
You don't have to do this as you can discard unwanted one every time you get a new tech. You can try the galactic war load out mod, you can play with some other new commanders.
Don't face off against leaders if you don't have a decent amount of tech. Just jump to systems and collect them all!
Thanks to all of you for your answers. I would love to battle the leaders only when I have the tech to do it, but on my latest war, I've explored all the systems but the 3 with the factions leaders, and I didn't manage to collect even the air tech.
Yeah, been there, done that. I had one game where I had Advanced Air Tech 5 or 6 times, but never got basic or complete >< Ended up abandoning and starting a new Galactic War.
The "randomness" of GW cards isn't weighted very well, so yep, you go through a whole GW without getting particular cards. One day I'll pick up where I left off with my GW mod, which gave out more T1 tech early on to make sure you could get the full set, and had fewer duplicates / overlapping cards
Well, I started over a new GW, and managed to get basic & advanced Naval tech AND basic Air tech in the very begininng of the game. It's now much more fun (but I lack the sub commander currently, I hope I will got it one turn or another)
This goes both ways. On the one hand, it's what sets GW apart from normal AI play, creating different challenges due to limited loadouts. On the other hand, it can easily become too limited due to the randomness of tech drops. I'm not sure I'd want to be near guaranteed to end up with the same loadout every time, but some techs should perhaps be considered more necessary than others (and given a higher weighting). All that said, yeah, you want to avoid leaders until you've picked up enough techs. Hopefully you will be able to do just that before running out of other planets.
