As above. Playing with randoms, you generally don't want to have shared armies. But if you have different colours you cannot use each others' teleporters, which can potentially seriously hamper the ability to play in as a team.

Please can teleporters be changed so that any team member can go through them? Should there be limitations, e.g. a toggleable option in the lobby, disallowed for dynamic alliance, etc?

Or better yet allow anyone to use any active teleporter. You could easily gain access to a fortified planet if your enemy was foolish enough to leave the teleporter on, and you could set up ambushes and traps to misleads those who would take your teleporters.

That's already in - there was actually a game in the first Cloak and Danger tournament where an injured commander retreated through a teleporter, but another player ordered his units to hold fire and move through the still-active teleporter, scoring a kill.

What the OP wants is to be able to link your teleporters with those of your allies.

That's already in the game. Just use the "use" command and they'll go through.

I still would like to have a donate function... so you can donate metal or units/structures to your ally in need.

Being able to use an enemy active teleporter is pretty awesome!

    Not with that attitude.

I've only ever had a problem once and that was because of one guy out of three (including myself) being childish and in another game making a very odd tactical decision.

This would also be really cool. I'm guessing you mean a screen like in age of empires?

I've had a few terrible experiences with shared armies and random players.

One in particular was very new and didn't understand that the unit's were shared. He thought I was hacking somehow and using 'his' stuff. No amount of explanation would change his view, so frustrating. In the end I left him to it and his inevitable and swift defeat at the hands of 2 players working together.

I've also had many games where one member of the team really doesn't get the streaming economy concept and therefore started building multiple expensive things and totally crashed the economy.

Shared armys are fantastic when working with someone you know, but can also be a nightmare in other situations.

I am a big supporter of extending functionality for classic alliance play as it has a different dynamic and I think is important to keep as well.

Linking to allied (non shared) teleporters is a great idea and something that should be added sooner rather than later imo.
