Hey! Now I'm probably sure this sort of thing is posted somewhere deep in this forum, but I've done a LOT of searching and can't find answers. I've had this problem since alpha and have had no relief ever since then. Basically, I have a lot of trouble starting a game. My friend and I try to play together every now and then. I make a simple system, usually no larger than 2 or 3 average planets. When I start the game, he loads in Instantly, and my game sits there and doesn't respond for a few minutes, and it usually results in my whole PC freezing up and I have to manually kill the task for my PC to stop freezing up. I have tried letting it just not respond for quite a while, and nothing really happens. I rarely am able to load into a game, and when I do, the game has already started and has been going on for a while. Like I said, I've had this problem since late Alpha, and none of the updates have done much. My friend's PC uses a different video card than mine, but our PC's are quite similar as far as performance. While the game is loading, when I check the performance, my CPU usage never hits 100%, and my RAM usage never goes above 3.8 GB. My video card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 ti (yes I have done all the thread optimization settings and such for my card and I have the latest driver). If you took the time to read all that, thanks. Any help at all would be appreciated. Like I said, something like this is probably posted somewhere else out there, but I've searched for so long and I don't really have anywhere else to turn, thanks.
This is likely because you only have 4GB and this likely not enough for any large planets and this is why game freeze. Also your OS is outdated and lack Service Pack 1: Code: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.120830-0334) I recommend you to get all latest updates via Windows Update.
Yeah I figured I would need to get some more ram at some point, thanks for the help, much appreciated.
I have the same thing happen to me too. I guess I might have the same problem too with not enough RAM since I too also have only 4GB. Here are my specs too if it helps anymore but from the looks of it I guess it might be the RAM. Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i3 3225 @ 3.30GHz 35 °C Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard MSI B75MA-E33 (MS-7808) (SOCKET 0) 28 °C Graphics SDM-HS73 (1280x1024@60Hz) AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series (ATI) Hard Drives 466GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKX-00ERMA0 ATA Device (SATA) 30 °C Optical Drives TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223Q ATA Device DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device Audio Realtek High Definition Audio
Yeah Probably RAM. The weird thing is, I have always slightly had this problem, like usually it would load in after not responding for a little bit, but since the latest patches I can't load in at atll.
Another thing that I have recently noticed is that I can play the single player Galactic War just fine, like it loads systems that are bigger than the multiplayer systems that I try to load, but for some reason if I try to load a system like that in multiplayer, it doesn't work.
