    To preface: we've been kicking around the idea of challenge maps for awhile now. What's a challenge map? It's a map that we've designed and set a number of rules / restrictions for victory. The point is to limit you, and see if you can still win while under those conditions.

    Today, I wanted to give that a spin. I've shared a map using cptconundrum's System Sharing UI mod on the Default Server. It's called "Challenge #1" because I'm the best in the world at naming stuff.

    The rules? Today, I want to see if we can beat one Relentless AI using only bots (tier 1 + 2), advanced eco, and Orbital. You can build anything else, including defenses. But your only offensive units can be bots and orbital.

    Can you win? I've been getting my *** kicked. Share your pictures, videos, and stories. I'm going to be hammering away at this all day. Hopefully, I can pull out the win.

    How to get the System Sharing mod:

    Download PAMM, the awesome community-made mod manager. Instructions are here. Then, grab the "System Sharing" mod under the UI mod category. System sharing's thread is located here.

    When you start up a game, switch to the "Default Server" tab and load Challenge #1. Easy!

    Is the map itself restrictive to bots/orbital or is this just a 'see if you can' kinda thing?

    After so much time pounding my head against Bot Commander GW, (often without such luxuries as advanced, orbital and grenadiers) I may have to give this a try.

    Currently there is no way to restrict units without using a server mod.

    This could eventually turn into a game mode like Risk (An Epic Board Game), which would be EPIC.

    Well damn that was pretty difficult.
    I got off-planet as soon as possible because the AI loves using air and there was just no goddamn way I was going to survive bombers for longer than a few seconds.

    But even after I got away, the AI managed to invade and nuke me to death before I managed to find his comm.
    I actually got kinda close, but that damn commander just evaded my sight.

    Though a more pressing challenge is the terrible vision range that bots have.

    AI spams OP air. You Uber folks have basically made this imposibru.
    Have you tried grenadiers?

    Brad, could you allow skitters to be mixed in for vision?

    No anti-air except for missile defense towers?

    Holy cow.

    If this were against a player, you wouldn't be able to expand at all as your fabbers would always die. And if you built missile defense towers at all the expansions, you'd expand too slow.

    Oh geeze. And we also have no way to scout except for radar.

    I'll give it a try against the AI...

    I know, right? Might be too much of a challenge. Anchors can do AA. I'm thinking of just spamming orbital like I would a bot rush and see what happens.

    first lesson i learnt ai smashes planets now haha completely missed that update to them. Thought i could just casually turtle up like a king and laser snipe only to have a moon land in my base lmao. well that was the first attempt! next time i will remember! also on an anoying note tactical missile bots seem to shoot at the ground next to their feet 90% of the time :/ other than that was fun :)

    Commander-grenadier rush still works, though it's a bit of gamble, especially if it takes too long to find the enemy.

    Rush t2 even with stall eco, then spam flak and walled towers. Then, tower creep. Also, do capture that other planet and at best swarm it with grenadiers or anchors and at worse just fortify a single base.

    Also, anchors shooting ground does assist turret creep nicely.

    I will try using turret-heavy tactics.
