Hey all - I'm fairly new to the game, and have been playing the GW gametype to start out and get my feet wet. As I've been playing a bit, I have a question regarding tech in this particular gametype:

    1) If you don't have enough available slots in your data bank, and you continue to explore planets which unlock\reveal newly discovered tech, is that tech available to be swapped out and assigned to your tech loadout at a later time during this campaign?

    2) Are techs which are removed from your data bank permanently deleted? Or do they sit in an "available tech" area somewhere upon which you could swap one out for another?

    3) Is there an alternative way (selecting\customizing your already explored tech in available data bank slots) to obtain a tech, rather than being required to have a data bank slot available and then populating that open slot with a newly explored planet and the random tech you could be awarded with?

I'm just asking this question because I'm not sure if this is how it was intended, or if its working improperly. Its a neat element in the game, but not being able to acquire a cool new tech that is discovered when there are no data banks available, and having to remove\delete a tech before moving into an undiscovered system based on complete randomness, kind of removes some strategy from the game, no?

I really like the idea of tech discovery. However, being able to retain a certain number of techs you have discovered, with minimal data slots to use and customize your loadout from battle to battle would serve better strategically. Having that ability to make those decisions lends more strategy to the game as well as gives the player flexibility to have techs that support their playstyle.

Welcome to the forums! Hope you are enjoying PA.

    1. No. If you reject tech you can not get it back, unless you find the same tech in after another battle.

    2. They disappear if they are replaced or deleted.

    3. You can obtain commander tech which is permanent and can be chosen before starting a galactic war campaign. If you haven't found out yet, some of the battles give an addition tech slot instead of technology or sub commander.

I'm sure the galactic war is still being tested and what we have now is far from what the finished product will be. So who knows we might get what you are looking for in the future.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong please.

I am not sure if you already know this, but one thing I read makes me think that you don't - you can delete tech when you've actually found the tech that you like better. You don't have to delete it before you move into the system and before you know what the tech is.

You can use the mod manger to get a nice commander load-out mod which give you some additional cool new load-out.
