I'd like to get a better look at the purchasable commanders, I'm on the fence about buying some with just a 2D image as preview. Would some of you custom commander owners mind posting some screenshots or videos so we can see how they look and animate ? If you're tech savvy enough to make 360 degrees spinning view of the actual models that would be great
Yeah considering the price the commanders should be properly showcased to ensure people can see what they're buying. I don't think the Backers really have much in terms of turnaround for their commander's final art and if they do, whether or not that is shared is probably at Uber's discretion. I, on the other hand, did the mesh for my commander myself, so I can share the turn arounds I did for myself; Keep in mind I'm still waiting to hear back from Uber so I'm assuming it hasn't come up in the custom commander queue so there could still be changed to come. Mike
Having a try option like most MOBA games have for heroes. like you can try them for x hours or something that would be nice as well.
SMNC has a similar feature. Be cool to have them do animations too instead of just spinning, also like in SMNC.
I'd argue that if Uber wants us to feel comfortable with paying 15$ for a cosmetic skin then they need to provide us with the tools needed to make us comfortable, so far they haven't provided anything but a single picture per commander and forum comments that the price is based on "Industry Wisdom" and that isn't enough, not when you can get much better value for 15$ elsewhere. That doesn't really work here, there are a lot of things going on that make the Free Rotation system work for MOBAs and basically none of them apply to a game like PA. Case in Point, I don't know of a single MOBA that has free rotations for Cosmetic Skins. I think that the ultimate thing we should be wanting from Uber is a nice Unit Viewer that you can access both in-game and out-of-game as well. A well rounded Unit Viewer has multiple uses; Allows Customers to Fully view the Commanders within the Armory. Allows Players to View Units in Detail in an easily accessible fashion and at thier own leisure. Allows Modders to troubleshoot new models/units without the hassle of running the game and constantly starting sandbox matches and cheating the unit into existence. And really, this shouldn't be all that complicated, the Game already does something similar when designing systems right? This would be a very similar set-up, just on a much smaller scale. Mike
I had the same issue before buying the Shadowdaemon commander; I went ahead and got it anyway and it's really cool. Here's a .gif of it moving around and building stuff. Please excuse the low quality.
Yeah, being able to rotate around a commander in 3d would be very cool indeed. Soak up some of the detail or lack there-of.
Go get blender and download the .papa to blender importer. Of course this would only be for the tech savvy people.
Hrrm. I do wanna make a commander for myself eventually (to look like my Avatar) I shall call him Redneck. He'll have a shotgun for his ubergun, and a drnking and peeing animation for when he's doing nothing. Not gonna pay them billions to put my own work in there though, so I'm waiting on full release so I can mod it in. I do agree that a 3d viewer woudl be a good thing, not just for commanders, but for all units.
Yeah, no thanks. A lot of effort that I have to put in for something somebody else is trying to convince me to buy
Well I got myself an early access box Here are the Gamma in robotbaby blue and Armalisk in Zerg purple.
Maybe uber could make some giffs or something that play when you hover over the commanders in the amoury, that might be easier to implement than a 3d render.
