I'm having some issues with teleports, and I hope you folks can help me out.
    1. Planet A has a teleporter A.
    2. I invade planet B by building teleporter B. So far, so good.
    3. I then build a teleporter C on a third planet C.
    4. I try to link A with C
That's where my teleports go haywire.

I try to select A and right-click C, in the naive hope of overriding the previous A-B link and establishing an A-C link. However, more often than not, A will power down. Or C will. Or both are active but do nothing. Manually de-powering B has no effect, until I power up A again, only to have my units transfering from A to B instead to C.

I sometimes "solve" the problem by self-destructing all teleporters except A, constructing a new teleporter D and then linking A-D ... but that approach doesn't strike me as intended (or economical).

So ... any ideas? Am I too stupid to operate teleporters? Is there a bug at work? Halp!

Disconnect them first by turning the energy off of B, and then Select A & C. This is what I do, at least.

Currently I think teleporters work on a first-come-first-serve basis, where if you link A & B, A can then not magically link to another whilst it's still connected.

It should work in the way you described - overriding the connection.

Then again, I seem to remember having to double click on my teleporters to make them work....

The thing is: I have no idea how to "disconnect" two teleporters.

Things that don't work (reliably, that is):
    • simply "overwriting" A-B with A-C
    • Powering down B, then linking A-C
    • Powering down A and B, then linking A-C
    • Using the "Stop" command on all teleporters involved before issueing new commands
I really am at a loss here.

The only problems I've ever had with issues like this come from UI lag/poor FPS. Simply overwriting it and making sure the sound effect for teleporter linking has played works for me.

I'd like to bump this thread because the issue has become really, really annoying.

I just finished a 6-man FFA and - apparently due to input lag - I could only activate a single teleporter: From a remote spot on my main planet to a remote moon, i.e. with nothing going on in the vicinity.

Every single attempt at placing "combat teleports", i.e. building a new teleporter on an enemy planet and linking it with my "main" teleporter which had an army waiting failed. Literally nothing happened. I clicked and clicked and clicked, I tried powering down and up again, tried using stop commands ... nothing.

It has to be "UI lag" or whatever, but it's beyond frustrating.
