So I don't play this game every day, and I haven't memorized which direction is the in and out for the teleporter. Just a suggestion here: I think the gates, when being placed at the least, should have arrows or some other obvious indicator to demarcate which is the in side and which is the out side.
I second this. Also factory output indicators. Hopefully this is the sort of thing that makes its way in with a polish pass I may have done some stupid things with misaligning things in the past.
Not sure if it's specific to the PTE, but the base of the teleporters are actually arrow shaped to make it easier to tell which is the front. While building it's still not 100% obvious, but the shape of the building kinda makes it easier to remember.
Oh wow, I guess I never zoomed in on it enough to see the little arrows. Thanks. Either way, it should be more obvious when placing, in my opinion, especially since this game is all about macro and most game play takes place with the camera way up in the sky or space where you can't see tiny arrows on structures.
There's also a somewhat more subtle way to tell. After you link teleporters, there will be circles of light going in on one side and out on the other. Although they're really only visible at a weird camera angle, or on the night side of a planet. Big circles are going in, small ones out.
At least we know the intention to make this happen is there in the ranks of Uber, I'm sure when they get around to polish it they'll make it more visible.
The old teleporter always got me confused but the new design is so clear... never had problems again what direction is the right one. I think you just need to get used to it a bit.
We recently redesigned the teleporter to make it more arrow shaped to help with this problem, especially when placing. I believe it is still that you drag away from the direction of travel to "aim" them, but we intend to correct that too.
Would it be possible to just draw an arrow on the screen pointing to the "front" when you try to rotate a building? I know the only building that really cares about direction right now is the teleporter, but I'm still hoping we get more structures that take advantage of this feature in ways that make for interesting gameplay.
