Krogaths were more surprise weapons than dedicated fighting machines.

I know I am well behind coming into this thread now, but I -Personally- loved the more strategic experimentals like the Bomb Bouncer especially when facing high difficulty computer AIs

That guy carried the &%$* out of me in the final two missions (on hard) of the Cybran campaign as artillery fire was raining down on my units like the diamond rain of Neptune.

    Honorable mentions:
    • Loyalty gun for carrying me through that one insane mission where I was being swarmed by minor experimentals, Darkenoids, and AC-1000s.
    • Noah Unit Cannon for allowing me to strategically take out the hard to reach UEF shield hubs while creating a forward base to counter the Kriptor's Last Charge.
I know one person doesn't mean much, but there are some people who genuinely love strategic experimentals.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Fatboy (I not II), but I also love the ones that genuinely require Strategy as well.

All you guys have a point, but i still think experimentals are really possible to implement\

I play supcom FA for a long while now and experimentals are still balanced(watch latest youtube vids on faforever)
There are a few things that should and would balance experimentals

-They are useless in the wrong hands (f.e. a noob using a land exp. without aircover)
-They are expensive in the way your production is on a hold for a while (no more defense army)
    -They take long to build
-They cant travel to other planets
-They should be really slow to compensate for firepower and hp

If you don't think experimentals are balanced this way then you should try to play supcom on faforever, because that game is 99.9% balanced even with 4 experimentals per faction.

I never understood that name, monkeylord?

It is just a joke about how they gobble monkeys with their laser?

Something like that, but without stealth otherwise it would be overpowered. Maybe a GC or megalith (without antiair for both megalith and monkey, because that would be to overpowered too)

This conversation is starting to fragment across several threads at once. I just answered an almost identical comment here: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...cation-of-mega-units.60966/page-6#post-950786

The TLDR for that post is that "balance" is not really my main concern. I'm 100% behind the idea that it can be "balanced"... but that doesn't mean that it's a good thing when compared to what I'm really worried about, preserving the usefulness of every unit throughout the course of the game.

It is useful, because now the game lags so hard because of huge armies spread across different planets. Thats why experimentals exist (and unitcap too)

That's not a very good reason, and I like big units!
