This is something new that was introduced in 67342. Seem to happen at random times. I've attached a typescript of the console output and log. Let me know if you would like more.

It's really old bug, but it's start happen all the time after recent update.
For me usage of "--software-ui" make it appear less often.

    Task on bugtracker: PA#2392

I've been using --software-ui with both this and the previous versions. Without it I get a black window without a cursor :(

To be fair I not sure what can be done there at moment. It's crash quite often for me too, but after few retries it's work quite stable on Intel HD4600. E.g if it's not crashed initially I can play game just fine later.

Are you sure you're still getting "black screen" error?

And cursor can be fixed by mod available via PAMM:
    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...r-for-linux-and-mac-os-x-version-4-0-2.50958/
Search for "Mouse cursor fix" in "BUGFIX" category.

First time trying to play PA.......Using Windows Vista.

I can't see my mouse cursor, but everything else seems to be working fine. I fumbled around enough to pick my commander and hit the "Go to War" button but I can't seem to start the game.

I downloaded the PA mod manger for windows but the only cursor fix I found is for linux......I installed and hoped for the best but still no cursor.....what can I do to fix this?

You have ATI/AMD graphics card for sure, so cursor will work in windowed mode (switch using Ctrl+Enter).

    Also two more details:
    • If you have Legacy AMD GPU, e.g HD2XXX,3XXX,4XXX then cursor will only work in fullscreen on Windows 8/8.1.
    • If you have more recent GPU like HD5XXX/6XXX and newer then cursor will work if you just upgrade to Windows 7.
And yeah Linux fix won't help you, it's different problem. :(

Thank you....yeah...I read about switching to windowed mode and it works just fine. I think I'll upgrade to win 7 soon, vista is a huge turd.
