the AI easily surrounds me on normal, the AI attacks before i start producing units, the AI always seem to be one step ahead of me.

i think the AI difficulties are not balanced,

OK, the AI might not be overpowered, but the AI difficulties should be balanced, or/and a far more less difficult level: Easy

Normalized? Sure, I agree it isn't fair to subject players to it on such a sharp difficulty. That just isn't in yet because you have to make the AI as good as possible before building intentional flaws to lower it's difficulty, to cater to the strongest players so their AI is competitive.

If the AI is overpowered, good. Best opponent to spar with possible.

The introductary AI should act like an introductary player though. Eventually.

So the AI will get harder before it gets easier

As hard as possible. But, oddly enough, Sorian is starting to work on real difficulty gaps, as in actual changes between the playstyle of the Hard and Easy AI.

For the moment, just set a .7 AI on easy if you want an easier opponent.

Yeah, you need to really change the economy modifier to have any real difference.

Balancing of the difficulty levels will happen. Just need some of the newer/less experienced people in the office to do some playtests of the AI and give me some feedback.

all you have to do is lower it's economy, you have a box with a number in it before the games starts.

change the number in that box to something lower and you will see the AI will be easier.

The ai could actually be much much better and stronger. What I want is to not have to give it economy cheats to get a challenge out of it.

Just ramp up your resource rate or decrease the AI's, that's all you need to do to make them easier. Also copy what you see the AI do and you'll really get better at the game. GL and HF!

Play in Galactic Warfare. AI is easier because it's restricted so much

I've actually been having to team up 3 uber AIs against myself to get a good challenge. If you're having trouble against the easy AI I STRONGLY recommend you watch replays of the best players to see how to get your eco and production rolling in a reasonable amount of time. ZaphodX and Masterofroflness on youtube have many many narrated games if you would prefer a more entertaining learning session but if you just want to learn to play better then watch a replay of BurntCustard or Matiz or someone else on their level and you'll see what you need to change. Use the uber AI as a benchmark for your progress. When you can beat it consistently you're doing well :D

Learning from the AI will do more harm than good mate.. he should join some players online who are willing to take him on board so that he can learn how to play because at the moment the AI is still bad when compared to players and it does not do things correctly either and im sure he does not want to play as "good" as a hard AI

The AI isn't so much the issue as the way it works out in Galactic War. The balance there just doesn't exist. Not a complaint, just highlighting a lot of work needs done there and that includes the AI side of things I would imagine.

I was thinking about this after playing a couple of games recently. I've played the campaigns for TA back when it first came out and SupCom as well and am more or less a casual player.

To me, it just feels like it takes a constant high APM (for a casual) to keep up against a couple of AIs on normal, even at 0.7. I attribute that to:
-Having to deal with a spherical map plus the orbital plane adds a fair bit of complexity, both in terms of the ability to set up a defensible perimeter and just the extra time taken to scroll around in the UI.
-There's only one way to play PA; if you're not out there aggressively raiding the enemy from the outset and keeping that pressure up for the entire game, you're going to lose. The elements of previous games like mass fabricators and the ARM Guardian/Core Punisher that allowed a more defensive stance are simply absent.

(I would suggest, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, that there be two difficulty presets for casual players. One named "easy", where the AI makes every mistake short of nuking itself, to serve as a suitable opponent for small children and pets, and another named "normal" which is suitable for casual players. Why? Because even causals deserve the opportunity to feel a bit of pride. :) )

This the reason we don't have (and hopefully never will) a difficulty names "easy". Players can feel better about playing against normal (once it is balanced appropriately) even if they lose.

Also, we wont have a bunch of noobs saying easy would be too easy and jumping into normal or higher and getting their *** handed to them.
