Hey guys, We're adding a few new sub-forums to Mod Discussion. I think they're pretty self-explanatory, but let me know if you have any questions, need clarification, or can potentially provide you with something else. [Also, now might be the time to start up clean, brand new "Released," "WIP," And Support threads.]
Excellent changes. This'll make it a lot easier to browse completed mods. No need to sift through all of other threads. So what's the purpose of the main forum now? General discussion about mods? Like requests and how tos and stuff?
That's a little too granular at the moment, I think. That's not to say that I'm opposed to it -- any other thoughts, guys?
I don't know if I got a glitch or if this has always been possible, but forum threads that were created by you are delete-able now through the thread-tools button
Using my 2nd account that has no mod rights I can't delete anything, thread tools won't even show up. Weird. Can you give a direct example of a thread that offers you to delete it? EDIT: or do you mean your OWN threads?
Editing your own threads probably always was possible? I don't think moving the thread without a moderator is possible. In general I think you should make a new REL thread that links the WIP thread. That way you can keep all the WIP-talk outside of the release information.
That's actually how I started with my first mod ;^) Do we need WIP and rel tags anymore? Where do obsolete mods go, back to WIP?
Personally I probably will keep making tags because they are easier to see in the new posts search. If we don't do anything they will fall down to the bottom of the pile of threads I guess.
A better name would probably be "PA.exe stopped working. Upload you dxdiag.txt here so we can tell you to update your drivers". But that name is probably too long.
Perhaps we should have tags? SERVER and CLIENT are obvious, or it could be SVR and CLI or UI. Two-part mods would have both tags.
I would call a two part mod a server mod. Server mods are free to push UI stuff as well after all. I.e. Murder Party is more of an UI mod than a server mod in a way, most of the work happens in the UI. Still it definitely is a server mod, isn't it?
ZX's ModX had a client component; I believe it was an strategic icon override, but I didn't investigate why.
