It's been a while.. Etiquette

Here's some general guidelines to make your, and my, day less annoying:

• There's a thread that has been discussed a million times, and I'm sick of it! : Great. Ignore it. Move on to a topic you care about.
• Someone is constructively arguing a thread you feel passionately about and you don't like people to disagree with you. - Great. Get off the internet.
• Someone doesn't know how to use the search button! : Great. We don't care. Get over it and don't post it. Move to a different thread or provide a useful response that informs them of the last known status of the topic. Don't be an ***.
• Someone is being genuinely abusive, using ad hominem attacks, etc. : Great. Report it. That's the kind of toxic behavior not allowed. Someone disagreeing with you and requesting you explain your position is not toxic behavior. Please learn to have someone disagree with you.

The main issue seems to be people who jump in and say... oh I don't know... "Shields will never be in the game! Get over it!" To just pick a random topic off of my head.

Debating something is perfectly fine. But in order to debate a topic, you have to contribute to the discussion.

Asking people to search isn't inherently a bad thing. Just don't say, "Use the search! Geeze!"

If you want to help out new forum members and welcome into the friendly community that we have here, then sure, tell them how to search. But also answer their questions, maybe provide some helpful links, and welcome them to the forums.

If you don't feel like answering questions, then don't respond to the thread. Let someone else respond to the thread who will actually help out and welcome the forum members.

The PA community is a pretty great one. Don't tarnish its name.

Pretty much this. I'm not saying people shouldn't use search. I'm suggesting that if you're going to take the time to post, be decent about it.

Be excellent to each other, basically.

Posting these kind of threads is just like you know, Garat's swag.

In a time when brutally efficient mechanisms of war dwell the space and lands; nobody gets along.

Well, I'd be happy if I never had to post one again. So far, that's been a distant dream. (Though our Uber community is pretty awesome - the amount of moderation these forums needs is very low compared to most I've ever been on)

I do feel for you guys Garat- I gather by Brads post in the other forum that you've been getting rather allot of hassle. All I would say in our defense is that the vast majority of people on here I've found to be pretty reasonable 99% of the time.

Even the "problem" people usually are great. We all have bad days. Most of these problems would go away if someone having a bad day just realized it and went for a walk instead of posting.

This is an awesome community. Don't mistake these occasional reminders that things are "totes out of control zomg!". Just reminders, as we are thankfully still a growing community and we get new people joining every day.

Well, at least specifically? I kinda went overboard this morning and was hoping to apologize to the moderator who had to deal with it and left a message in closing one of the reports.

I wasn't under the impression your job required you posting, until we started peeking around corners. Like, where the heck did Garat go? Did he abandon us?
