have someone noticed that every RTS that the Team that make TA are much advanced for its time:
Firts we have TA w/ hundred of units, ADV Eco and the new 3D engine, pioneer to RTS... and of course EpiC BattLes

Then SupCom, now w/ THOUSANDS of units, a super cool graphics that would bloom your "not last Gen PC" and again EpiC BattLes

now we have PA, a game about getting engines on a planet and launch into others, tele units across a solar system, planets size maps, and of Course... but not only epic...
    AWESOME And EpiC BattLes

It actually is wierd. This one doesn't over-test your PC processing power. However, it is a technological marvel that a game can be coded like this and still work, and all the features it has like chronocam and such.

The devs do show something impressive with this game. I didn't know this type of code could do all this. It is so flexible, why doesn't EVERYTHING just use this code?

Because there hasn't been many RTS in a while, and all code being used are technologies that have only come out in the last few years. Also that all the code is custom specifically for RTS (and isn't a major engine like Unity or Unreal that has to work on everything). Its impressive, but its also a highly specialized engine.

Well its all common webcode. It is incredibly hard to believe this game is a modified internet browser, with better capabilities than RTS games before it.

    It is like...

    C&C Generals, Supcom2, ect = Game Engine
    Planetary Annihilation = Web Engine

    Web Engine > Game Engine

    ?

I didn't think webcode was that powerful before PA, but suddenly it shouted "Hello World!" when demonstrated with this game. All I could make out of webcode in school, is a silly little "jepoardy" game lol.

The pa engine isn't written in web code though? Only the interface....

The game however is written in Javascript, the same thing Minecraft is done in I believe, and back then people thought that was amazing for js. :p

You don't really believe a game like this could be written in Javascript, do you?

no, this game is written in C++
    see http://www.mavorsrants.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

it's only the clients interface that uses javascript,
writing games in javascript is near impossible because js is so slow.

no thats java and thats something completly diferent form javascript

The game engine is written in C++.

The frontend/client uses a web engine and interface.

Minecraft is written in Java. Or was, to a large extent.

Please don't guess when it comes to programming :(

Planetary Annihilation may be innovative when it comes to introducing a new way of playing. But I don't think that it's actually the next step in the evolution of RTS. That's why I wouldn't call it advanced, but original.

They are in a class of its own!
Why settle with a square map. It`s only been done 1000 times!
Why settle with a planet when u can have 10 planets in a solar system.
Why settle with nukes and arty when u can have lasers, planet annihilation and bombardment.
I would call this innovative, maybe not innovative but new thinking, i don`t even know what innovative is anymore:p But least very ambitious and thank god someone is makeing this game for us, truly on my top 5 list of supercool games!
