Progenitor Lore (Galactic War spoilers)

While I go through the Galactic War as a Progenitor Commander, I'll be posting the planet descriptions here. They contain TONS of lore on the Progenitors.

- Progenitors knew discrimination.
- They also had things like rich/poor.

- Century War. Against who? Not against the machines, it seems. Seems to have happend before the Pro-Com War.
- Progenitor High Command seems to be the group that controls the Progenitor Army.
- General Assembly?
- There were humans. They lived together with the machines in the Progenitor Coalition.

Section 17 said:

The most heavily guarded system of the Progenitor Coalition, Section 17 is where the majority of top secret Progenitor Coalition projects were developed. The system kept so secret that only a handful of people knew of its exact location. It remained a secret all through the Century War, as well as the Pro-Com War. It is rumoured that it was the last system to be abandoned by the Progenitor Coalition during their Operation Kadota.

- Ooh Area 51-ish.
- Operation Kadota seems to be the name of whatever the Progenitors did to end the Pro-Com War.

I wonder if the current systems in game are created by Uber or the Kickstarter backers?

I did a look over the lore shown from the planet's descriptions, and compiled it into a little summary. It's a long read, and is missing hole, depth and some context. But give's a good overview of the backstory.

Foreword: The game proper takes place thousands of years after the events depicted below, also I assume that the information shown to us in game is NOT known the commanders at the time (With their memories being wiped).

FACTIONS

Progenitor Coalition: The primary government of the Human Race, Humanity were the one's to create the robotic commanders. A species numbering in the ten's of billions they would be engulfed in two galactic spanning wars for their very survival. The Progenitor's fought their wars with Human soldiers, akin to modern times.

It should be noted that not all of humanity was unified under the Progenitor Coalition, several systems and planets were independent of Progenitor control.

Xziphid Hegemony: A unknown alien species that declared war on the Progenitor Coalition without warning. Described as being "bug like" in appearance. The Xziphid had a taste for human flesh, they would often capture humans and "farm" them by fattening them up, this practice would last for 70 years until the end of the war.

Machine Liberation Army(MLA): After the end of the Century War the Progenitor's began a regime of reclassifying the former military commanders into a civilian life. Many commanders saw this as akin to a lobotomy, which inevitable gave rise to a war of survival, and extermination.

WARS

Century War: The war between the Progenitor Coalition and the Xziphid Hegemony. The war was asssumedly fought over the span of 100 years.

The war began when the Xziphid invaded Progenitor space "like a lightning bolt". The Progenitor's military were forced to fight wars of attrition and guerilla campaigns to slow down and stop the Xziphid military. Yet that was not enough, the Progenitor's were losing system after system to the Xziphid.

All would seem lost until the introduction of the Commanders, robotic military leaders who could create vast armies quickly and did not suffer from moral or logistical issues. The planet Gamma Hydra was the first battle the Commanders partook in that saw the war turn in favour of the Progenitor's.

No further information is shown regarding the Century War, suffice it to say the Progenitor's, with the employment of the robotic Commanders, defeated the Xziphid Hegemony.

(Outcome: Humanity emerges victories, marks the creations of the robotic commanders)

Pro-Com War: The war between the Progenitor Coalition, and the loyalist Commanders, versus the Machine Liberation Army.

Many commanders rebelled against the Progenitor's and formed the MLA, other commanders remainly loyal to the Progenitor's. A war unlike the prior Century War was fought between Humanity and Machine.

Humanity was losing, despite massive victories and the assistance of loyalist commanders the MLA was gaining ground, what was worst was that the MLA were systematicly exterminating humanity in a quest of genocide.

Humanity was on the verge of extinction, Sol and Earth were seemingly were among the last bastions of Humanity as the core Proginator worlds were ravaged.

The turning point in the war was the development of the NEST by the Progenitors. (My information on the NEST is limited). The NEST was a superweapon that seemingly shutdown or destroyed commanders. With this the Progenitors were able to launch assaults against the MLA with impunity. However there are hints the deployment of the NEST resulted in many loyalist commanders rebelling against the Progenitors.

The outcome of the war is unknown, the end result of the war was all known commanders having their memory's, and technical knowledge, erased. The fate of humanity is unknown.

(Outcome: Victor unknown, all commander's in existence collectively lose all historical and much technical knowledge. Fate of humanity unknown)

Thousands of years later, the first commander's would reawaken. Strewn among the wreckage of a war long forgotten. While divided in their beliefs and understanding of the universe, they all burned with a hatred of biologicals, and they all prepared for the return of these unknown "Progenitors".

Yeah this new lore is actually really nice.

I hope the factions are changed to reflect this stuff.
