So if I wanted to contact Jon Mavor and ask him some questions about his projects in his previous life (Supcom) how would I go about doing that? There appears to be no PM system on these forums, and he has no e-mail. Why is it so hard to contact an individual working anywhere but Valve these days?
He does have an email address, and there is most certainly a PM system on these fourms. I'll send you one now as proof Note: Uber are in crunch mode at the moment for 'something big', so he might not be that responsive at the moment. EDIT: Is this for the press or for personal interest?
Nah it's not - you click on someone's name and there's a big "Start a conversation with this person" button right there under their name in the pop-out box. In any case, he's in touch with Jon now.
I'm in contact with Jon now, but I still don't see this mysterious and fabled button, not on the popup or your profile pages.
If you click my name to the left of the post there is an option to start a conversation. If you open in a new tab (my profile page) then you go to the 'information' tab and can start a conversation there. You can also click inbox in the top right and and start a new conversation, then search for a username to send to.
There really isn't! :s http ://snag.gy/ bt13Q.jpg I can't post links as a new user, so I had to split it up with some spaces, but that's what I'm seeing, and there's no conversation button... :/
From all I know messages from new users should just be queued up for post moderation until they are not considered new anymore. I don't think it should actually prevent them from sending messages. Dunno.
You could reach him on Twitter. You could PM him on the forums. You could e-mail Uber through their e-mail link on their site. You could leave a message on their Facebook page. Haven't really gone above and beyond on this one, have you.
In all fairness: Jon doesn't Twit much User couldn't use the forum PM sytem (see above - looks like new users can't) Emailing a general Uber mailbox would likely not get him to Jon, as they probably received thousands of (mostly spam) messages and would get caught up in those. Jon's direct email address isn't made public, I don't think. Facebook page - see above points about the general mailbox I managed to get him set up with a PM convo with Jon, so all is right in the world, it's fine
Well I took it to be a press contact, I mean he could just phone them! And he doesn't have to tweet Jon, he could tweet Uber, or any one of the other Uber employees.
Another way of contacting him that I heard of is if you yell his name 3 times into a mirror at midnight, he will appear behind you and beat you over the head with a IBM Model M keyboard while yelling "IT'S STILL IN BETA DAMNIT!". But that might be a rumor >.>
