The part that the game needs has never been able to install. Haven't been able to play it since the last update with the start up screen. The log file is full of errors, have no way to understand or fix my problem.
Do you use any anti-virus? There was some AV which conflicts with new launcher. If you have one I recommend remove it completely for testing and check if launcher still fail.
Then I doubt it's the issue because I never heard MSE cause any issues. One idea I have it's might be something wrong with permissions, so can you test this please? Try to run launcher executable "as administrator". Try to copy launcher to any other directory like desktop and check if it's work or not. As experiment you might as well try to use this alternative launcher: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/alternative-go-launcher-build-for-windows.59287/ It's not user friendly, but should work well enough.
Done all that, but the problem is still the same. Could it be in this [02:51:31.150] INFO 9 errors detected at the bottom of the log file that is causing the problem? And if yes, which ones are the 9 errors?, because the log file is full of errors.
The nine errors are the lines that look like: [02:49:13.261] ERROR Download checksum mistmatch: expected: 747ee283cb7a3effe98e9f94781e849ff6ae990e, got: 3a4c41fa37389c663a83a820311648559cffa7d7 Looks like it is failing to decompress the files. I'll bring it up tomorrow.
OK, after talking to the engineer in charge of the launcher here are his recommendations: 1) Ensure you have enough free hard drive space. 3GB should be sufficient to download and install the game. If #1 fails then: 2) Attempt to do a clean install by removing the Planetary Annihilation folder and a cache folder that are in the same directory as the launcher. If neither of those work, reply back here and we can look into it further.
You could also try restarting the computer. I've seen a couple cases where for some reason PA.exe fails to close correctly and the file becomes locked.
I have 16GB free on the drive that PA is on. I have tried already to do a fresh download, but the download does not contain what it fails to download. So when I started PA the same thing occurred as if I didn't do anything. I will retry, but I have my doubts on its success.
