Hello guys, as the topic of commanders has sprung up in the general discussion forums I thought I'd make a little discussion about commanders and how squishy they should be. What would you like kept, what changed, and how so? List of attributes to keep/change: Primary Weapon. Uber Cannon. Health. Metal Count. Metal Rate Energy Rate. Metal Storage. Energy Storage. Please don't make the Commander as squishy as the SquishyPon3!
It'd be pretty nice if the primary weapon had a little bit of splash damage. Other than that, I think the commander is pretty much perfect.
the uber cannon makes it pretty powerful early game, because it essentially allows comms to one shot infernos, downplaying infernos use greatly. but make the primary weapon better
Primary Weapon: Increase accuracy and buff damage by 50%. Uber Cannon: Increase range by 10% and provide a +15% damage boost vs Infernos and a 100% damage boost vs Vanguards. Health: Good. Metal Cost: Halve it so that com repairing can be done at a reasonable rate without crashing your eco. Not as crazy as before, but viable at least. Metal Rate: Fine. Energy Rate: Fine. Metal Storage: Fine. Energy Storage: Fine.
I think the initial metal and energy storage and metal and energy generation of the Commander should be increased so we can build a factory first. Everyone hates building the first few extractors. We all sit there, waiting, doing nothing. And if you got unlucky and have your metal spots further apart, then you're at a disadvantage. Not much of a disadvantage... but it can make a difference in the top games if you get scouted second, which means raiding bots are already on their way to you which puts you on the defensive right off the bat. The main thing is everyone always builds the same, or almost the same, opening build. It's boring – let's just get rid of it and go factory first.
I can dig the primary having splash damage, the secondary being a toggle and firing the primary between ready UGun rounds, and their metal cost being half so they repair twice as fast which is still slow but at least in the realm of repairable. then the commander would be pretty decent indeed, both for suppression and self defence and last ditch efforts and maintinence.
