Can I Get Beta From Anywhere?

So you already tried to download the latest Intel driver for the HD4000? What message do you get?

Well, we can probably rule out the hardware its self as the issue, as i've seen quite a few people running the hd4000, and have it my self on my laptop. But yeah, what exactly is the issue you're having? Specifically.

Based on the posts you have made in this thread I believe your solution is to forcibly update your drivers according to this guide. The driver you should use is "win64_153318.zip" from Intel's driver page. However, enabling software-ui is simple and non-destructive so I would attempt that first even though it probably won't work.

To enable software-ui:
Browse to the folder where PA is installed, right-click on PA.exe and choose create shortcut. Then right click on the newly created shortcut and choose properties. In the target field add --software-ui after everything in the field so that it looks something like this: "C:\Program Files\Games\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\PA.exe" --software-ui
Finaly, click okay and then launch PA utilizing the shortcut.

I also saw that you are still using BIOS 2.05, the latest version is actually 2.09... but I doubt that is the driver problem... but still...

@BlackStarr911 Let us know if any of these help, particularly the "creating shortcut and adding --software-ui to the end" one to enable software-ui, and the force-update driver and see if the driver functions on that machine.

any way i get this= The Driver Being Installed is not validated for this computer.please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer.

i can start the game fine get it loaded up and all that but as soon as i try to join a game, AI or multiplayer, the game crashes and i get PA.exe has stopped working

yeah it keeps telling me to update to windows 8.1 but i like windows 8 standerd sooo...

Well the BIOS has nothing to do with Windows 8.1, but you should install it. It is an update after all and considered necessary for future updates by Microsoft! If you stay on Win8, you will not receive updates anymore!

That is exactly the error message that the guide I posted is supposed to bypass. When you download the driver from Intel's site DO NOT get the .exe file. Get the .zip file. Then go to http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558749190911446231/ and follow the steps exactly.

I apologize if you have already tried this but your error message strongly indicates that you are simply downloading and running the exe.

Excellent that it worked really. Those laptops locked to drivers by their brand name are a real nuisance. However, we have some smart technical support guys, and it is terrific that we can get so many machines to run PA.
