Now this makes me believe that the uber cannon is actually a bubble gun by the looks on this picture, and bots and tanks and stuff are shooting each other with colored water, which damage their circuits!

This shot looks more like bubbles than actual plasma weapon. I can't tell if it's bad or good thing...

    STOMP STOMP STOMP!!

    squish those tiny robots!

(Would be pretty cool if the commander destroyed bots and tanks by walking over them)

More killing fabricators and less being thrown straight into the enemy commander!
Isn't that what we build sniper bots for?!

It would be cool to add a unit 1st/3rd person camera like in Total War games!

Imagine seeing your units from 1st person vs another army like in that picture via a nice hotkey :D

PS: Maybe some custom Commander controls for players

Check out the spring engine.... They added fp view (and unit controlls) ages ago...

    Edit like this...

You can follow a unit, and then you can zoom in so you are approximately above their shoulder though.

Oh my lord that was ...
I don't know whether to cry or

All the video shots in there were taken from the in engine camera modes including the first person camera. The editing Cabbage did was to add the text and audio + some scene transitions.

Even the commander 'Thunderbirds' section is part of the in engine physics system (all you need to do is self detonate a 'roach' crawling bomb behind the commander on a low gravity map to send him flying like that).

In spring engine if you select any combat unit and press 'c' you go into first person mode and you can drive the unit using WASD to control the legs, the mouse steers the upper torso or turret and use left and right mouse buttons to fire weapons. There are actually a few situations where FP mode gives you a slight range advantage over using the unit normally.

I'm very familiar with the capabilities of the Spring Engine - that aspect of the video was absolutely fine :)
