Way to recover when connection to server is lost?

Sometimes I am playing a long-running game and the connection to the server is suddenly lost, and I can't find any way to reconnect to the game. Is this possible? It's a pretty big bummer when I have my mega army about to load on a teleported array and the game dies.

Restarting the game normally brings up a dialogue to reconnect to a lost match.

And if it doesn't does that mean it's a fatal disconnect?

Correct.

Never ran in such a fatal disconnect, but I have had instances where I could not load after a reconnect.
In beta you did not have to exit the game to have the reconnect dialog show up if I remember well. So I guess it is a bug that you need to exit the game first now and many people probably don't know this or even know its possible to reconnect to a running game.

In Beta you was able to log out and login again right in menu.

There's a mod on pamm that adds a reconnect button. Handy!

Yes but it believe the game also detected the disconnect when yo went to the lobby while still logged in.

When that happens far into a big game, it usually means that the server crashed.
