Yeah milk sounds like a better idea indeed.

I do like the idea of using cookies as a way of explaining things.

I updated the mod to use @orfjackal idea of appending the stuff directly to the knockout file. This should reduce the danger of a patch breaking things.

is this mod only increasing UI reaction times or also performance of the game itself?

Its a great find btw :)

It basically drastically increases knockout processing speed in some cases and it seems the PA UI lag at least partially comes from exactly those cases.
So it basically is a UI performance increase. The UI is a different process than the actual game. So if at all the game will have more fps because less CPU is wasted on the UI.

Obviously need to turn off other mods and test this in isolation but I saw a few kinks in one of my games. The build bar hover effects felt laggy, and it often didn't respond to clicks. Hotbuild still worked fine. The Chronocam controls also stopped showing visual updates.

What do you mean the chronocam controls stopped showing visual updates? The chronocam bar is laggy as hell when reviewing games for me normally, that's not UI related I think.
Can't reproduce any build bar issues, but I do use mostly hotbuild

Did the issues occur very late into the game?

I believe it was later; I didn't notice anything in the smaller AI game I played.

I never did just pause the chronocam and see if it caught up, but the presentation (slider position and time) wasn't updating at all as I watched a game from multiple perspectives, rewinding to look at others.

I also haven't been playing much lately, so I have to confirm the behavior actually changes due to the mod.

The laggy chronocam slider at the review of big games isn't new.

It's not laggy - it stops changing at all.

Anyway, played a new game without the mod and both the build bar clicks (sometimes works on the bottom of the button but not the top) and unresponsive chronocam still occurred.

played a real 1v1, no issues, less lag. Still had a bit of lag though, but FAR less for sure.

    EDIT:
I think it massively reduces the reliability of imba wall. That's all issues I can see so far.
Fixing imbawall should be possible though.

    EDIT:
hmm or maybe it was just because my opponent was on an austalian server and the game itself lagged really hard. cant reproduce the issues I had now.

hmm imbawall isn't touching anything knockout so shouldn't be affected. (well apart from the model. stuff, well damn yeah knockout is everywhere in core )
Only thing in hotbuild that could be affected should be the preview icons in live game, and offcourse the whole settings ui.

Yeah I think it really only was the fact that the whole game was laggy has hell. Not the UI.

Thank you cola_colin that mod worked perfect with the added bonus this is the first time I have seen the planet smashing animation without lag at all!

not sure if that has anything to do with this or not

    Thank you
