So I guess this could kind of go into the thread about a better lobby, but it's not quite the same. I understand that due to the fact this game uses independent servers makes this more difficult, and that there would need to be a big change in infrastructure to make it possible. At any rate, some sort of ladder system and/or intelligent matchmaking would be great.
So far, I am have a great time with MNC, and I have definitely grasped the concept and can hold my own. My first few games, however, almost made me regret the money I spent. There is no safeguard from keeping someone who has never played a match from being paired against someone with 100 wins under their belt. I would love to see the League of Legends model adopted here. I am fairly certain that this is an unrealistic request, so that's why it is in the wishlist section.
Anyone out there let me know what you think.

Take a look at it from the positive side, they'll make sure to show you when you commit to a mistake, harsh conditions but they are the best to learn something

I couldn't agree more with that! I have definitely gotten way better in a very short amount of time! It is a sink or swim environment for sure. Also, to be honest, the community is not near as harsh as I would have thought for this sort of game. I have yet to have someone yell at me for dying a bunch, or making stupid mistakes.

On the other side, I think the situation is such that it creates a high barrier to entry for beginners, and a good deal of potential players may be turned away because they lack the backbone to stick with it. But i guess, at that point, they've already paid for the game, so they are still supporting it, even if they don't play.

I think the best they can do is allow servers to restrict players by level. Most servers will still be available to all, there will be some noob only servers, and a few high level only servers. Not saying high level means they're good but at least they won't be completely clueless.

No. Matchmaking can only be reasonably accomplished in a peer-to-peer environment. Dedicated servers would not work particularly well for matchmaking because dedicated servers are owned by an individual who wants his own personal server settings. Who would pay for a server to be dominated by matchmaking rules?
