You folks have created a beautiful fun game but it has no story and no soul. Every successful game of this type not only has great game play it also has great story. Command and Conquer Red Alert, Warcraft etc.....

I play your game and it is beautiful and well done but I feel nothing.

Please make a Single Player Campaign it will pay off in the long run.

A stand-alone single-player campaign is not exactly the best way to spend Uber's small budget.
A 'single-player mode' will be available with the introduction of Galactic War. Storyline and faction descriptions will matter more once that comes out.

I typically did not ever play single player campaigns in Command and Conquer Red Alert etc... they were a big waste of time and did not let you use all the units/buildings.

In RTS games to me the single player campaign seems not worth it. I like what uber is doing with the galactic war that is procedurally generated, that way you can make up your own story instead of being tunneled by the game.

The games you mention had budgets much larger than Uber, and I wonder if they involved creating an entirely new game engine... I think, given the time and money Uber has, making the game as it is is their best chance at making a return, whilst keeping the most people happy.
Anyway, hope you learn to love it as it is :)

P.S. games such as Sins of a Solar Empire are widely regarded as excellent games, yet have only a barebones story, and only skirmish game types.

Not really, especially when you consider just how expensive it is and just how flat out awkward it is to work into even a "standard" development cycle, let along what Uber is doing.

oh here we go.. Welcome to the forums, please use the search... Jkjk.

well, its not legacy, so you may not even recognize it, but this game will have a procedurally created galactic war, like skirmishes played over a larger map, and factions with storylines, although no unique faction units.

that acts like a campaign, xept without getting old.

then, this game will release serverside to modders. Modders can figure out a way to store scenarios and media, packing their own fanfiction campaign mod. You will probably get duplicate ta storyline for instance. I personally wana make one.

these act like a never ending source of different campaigns, also no boredom.

a plain out campaign, that wouldn't be development time they can spend wiser making the game better.

How would it even work? It's pretty clear that the commanders have one and only one goal and that's to destroy the enemy, and since campaigns require multiple goals to make it more than just skirmish after skirmish with dialogue between, it wouldn't really work for pa PA.

But if you think about it say in the context of the Galactic War there are lots of little things that put it head and shoulders above what you describe.

The biggest bonus is the fact that the player has a lot of control between battles. Sure some games have done branching storylines and such, but how many have presented you with a huge nexus of systems and say "Take it over how ever you want"?

On top of that there are lots of other little things GW could do, on a base level even just the set-ups of the systems can have an effect on how you play. Throw in some unique modifiers in different systems and that changes things up even more!

In the end, it's important to keep things in perspective, Galactic War isn't a replacement for Traditional single player campaigns even while it does share some elements. It's better I think to think of it as a supplement to the Single player in the same way that AI Skirmishes are supplements to Traditional Campaigns. Uber has some pretty big plans for PA and even if you aren't interested at all in playing against other players you can bet that there will still be ways to take advantage of PA's online-"focused" nature. Want to play a big huge game your PC can't handle? Let Uber run the server for you! Want some different single player and/or co-op experiences? Wait for Modders to release new game types like TDs and such online.

It might take a bit to get rolling, but you won't be limited in choice once the online community gets up to speed.

Community driven, comp stomp galactic war campaigns could be wicked cool.

Could even have a kind of game master who drives the story for the players to enjoy.

    That would be amazing.

It's a multiplayer centered game. I see it somewhat like Counter-Strike. No need for singleplayer or whatsoever, couldn't care less about it.

Uber has neither the budget nor the manpower to make a full singleplayer campaign, at least before release.
And even after that i realy hope they wont do it because i want more multiplayer stuff.
Also, not to beat on a dead horse but: Just mod it / wait for the mods that will inevitably come?

    Really?

Well I dunno about this guy, but multiplayer is the exact last reason I got this game.

Im looking forward to PA's superb AI, galactic war and computer stomping gameplay.

I absolutely hate muliplayer only games.

Playing against AI is meant to be the single-player in this game.
Also the galactic wars will be the single player campaign.

I feel like the "proper" campaign you probably have on mind from games like Age of Mythology won't be here and it doesn't fit the style at all. I would rather see the money being spent on some reasonable than this. This game is aiming to be a good multiplayer RTS and become a good eSports game. SP campaign has no place in here!

    And the obligatory line:
    Just mod it.

And trust me, someone will probably mod a campaign, with a custom story and stuff. So if you are really looking for something like that, try to get a partner and maybe think of something yourself. Or simply wait till the game and the mod is released and then you can have some fun.

I also am really of the opinion that wishing a game to be an Esports and for that reason, anything SP has no place and should be ignored.

To be the most stupid argument in the world when you want everyone to enjoy a game, and not only just the few people in our whole community who will actually take part in it.

The best case scenario of how I can see the significance of singleplayer campaign in PA is something like BF3. It's there alright, but noone actually cares about it. It's just some four hours of something just to slap up some appeal to casuals and justify the price tag, 95% of the game is where the multiplayer is and that's what the title is about and what players care about.

That's what you players enjoy, but not all of that games players are into the hardcore multiplayer.

And that still is a really, really bad example for a RTS game, that has a very different audience.

Comparing PA to counterstrike, is like comparing the moon to the sun, very different.
