I know that bombers in Supcom where they could take out buldings quiet well and and harass units as well might sound op. But they were just balanced since they had drawbacks as well. They costed very much energy( over 5 times energy of t1 tank) and more metal than any t1 ground unit. Furthermore they could be countered pretty easily by AA if there was enough( a t1 mobile AA costed 1/3 metal and 1/6 energy of a bomber.) Therefore t1 bombers were not op and could only effectively raid a base if the opponent was taken by surprise and had no time or resources to build AA. Otherwise they could be used to destroy extractors outside the base. The build time of bombers was also longer so going a lot of bombers in early game was risky since you had to do significant damage to your opponent to make it pay off. Bombers that deal damage can always be massed to snipe a commander and it will be easier for the ones which deal more damage. Anti air is supposed to give the defending player an opportunity to fend of such a rush. However I personally don't like the assassination game mode were you can break the defenses in one point and send your troops desperately for a certain suicide, but be able to take out a commander and win a game. The fact that there is no total obliteration game mode in Pa is pretty annoying, but that's a topic for another thread.
I would like to see specialisation in T2 for bombers. One for carpet bombing and one for long range guided missiles.
