Game instantly quits without warning and is very unstable.

I bought the steam version yesterday and i am unable to start the game, when i press play, the game window will blink for a split second and exit immediately without any sort of error message, i have updated my drivers.
The only time its ever worked was after i rebooted my PC but even then the game was really unstable, Every 10 or so minutes the game would cease responding for about a minute and sometimes the UI would freeze for a bit (Permanently when i attempt to smash a moon into a planet using Halleys, forcing me to CTRL+ALT+DEl out and end the process), the game never worked again after that.

Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel Core i3 550 @ 3.20GHz CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM.
Dell Mobo.
AMD Radeon HD 6870 GPU.

As you can see there is only one error which doesn't matter because i have no mods installed anyway.

This problem seems to be unique to me as i cant find any other threads that match my situation exactly.

Also at moment you're running game though Steam so I strongly recommend try two workarounds:

First try to run game without Steam overlay:
Right click the game in your Library -> Select Properties -> On the General tab, uncheck the box next to Enable Steam Community In-Game

Then try to run non-Steam version:

You don't have Service Pack 1 installed so your OS is seriously outdated.
There already was few players who got crashes because lack of Windows updates.

I am currently updating to Service Pack 1.
Will report back results when its done.

Updates+SP1 failed to install for some reason but doesn't matter, non steam version works perfectly and i don't care about updates.
