I'm not exactly sure about the role of Stingray in game.
Leviathan and Stingray both have the same build time. Leviathan has like two and a half times more HP, wrecks things so hard, it's usually a oneshot. In a map full of water if you roll Leviathan ASAP, you roll the entire waves, the beach AND some impressive area off-coast. Stingray? It's essentially the same, only worse. Am I missing something?

Stingray has heavy AA missiles now.

Stringray is super powerful anti-air ship. It releases a hell when an aircraft is close and it has big antiair range as well, more than turrets.

Stringray = antiair + long range missiles
Leviathan = King of the seas

Go figure, just played a game and the description said absolutely nothing about AA.

    'bout sums it up.

The Stingray isn't as good as it used to be, but it's a beast of an anti-air ship. Great supplement to any navy – just not the staple that it used to be.

I love the combination of the two T2 war ships. Both are awesome.
