Just got Monday Night Combat, and much to my chagrin the sky has been replaced with total darkness.

This is happening on a GeForce 7950GT with the latest drivers.

Adjusting the graphics sliders changes nothing aside from the amount of bloom on objects around the blackness.

Weird. There have been troubles with ATI tech where black "explosions" have been seen but I have never heard of it from a GeForce.

Same here, I mentioned it in the black/blue explosions thread. 7800GT.

    I'm noticing a pattern here...

I am too. Bumping to bring this to the attention of the Devs, hopefully.

It seems the game doesn't like GeForces all that much..

It looks like a driver bug, not sure it's something we can directly fix. You can try turning off bloom to see if that solves the issue.

    Go to:
    C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\HostileGame\Config\

Open HostileEngine.ini in notepad and search for "Bloom=True" with out the quotes, change it to "Bloom=False", save, and run the game again. Please let us know if that fixes it or if the sky remains black.

Bizarre, it doesn't appear that bloom got disabled.

edit: Ok, you'll need to set both Boom and DepthOfField to =False.

Same here. I noticed that it ran a LOT smoother though, so I think I can live without bloom.

Triple-post update, I just noticed that the sky towards the edge of the viewing area isn't black anymore, but as a result, some smoke textures are now black and opaque.

Not cool due... but what you did for this?
I feel we are getting closer to anything here.

Bump, still no idea what's causing this.

It's likely some kind of video driver bug, the sky is literally the simplest material in the game. Look at texture, render, done.

Once we're able to replicate the issue internally hopefully we'll find some work around for the issue until the driver issue itself is fixed. Until then, the best advice I can give you is try messing with the settings in that ini file to see if you get any different results. You can always delete the file and run the game to get back to default.

I have an NVIDIA 7900 GS and I am having the same issue. bgolus's suggestion of changing the bloom and depth of field to 'false' did not fix the problem.

Is there anyone using a 7000 series GeForce that doesn't have this problem?

Realized I turned off High Quality Bloom and not Bloom, and fixed that, but still no change.

I do have to admit though, I'm running a hell of a lot smoother and the fuzzy white outlines of stuff around the black skies have gone away, so it's almost worth the trade-off.

Though it would be nice to see skies. <~<
