Hi all, I'm playing Planetary Annihilation and liking it very much, like I did Supreme Commander. I learned too late of the Kickstarting, however, and there in lies my problem, for I cannot play as the commander I think is awesomest, Delta... which makes me sad... "Aww, poor sausage!" some might remark. And they might also mention that one can upgrade the game to Cosmic Limited Edition, gaining goods including the Delta Commander! Praise be! Ting is I bought Planetary Annihilation through Steam, and you cannot upgrade the steam version... maybe later but who knows when. So I am contemplating buying the game again, this time from the Uber store. Buy Cosmic Limited Edition from Uber and play as beloved Delta and supporting PA(as I failed to do so during the kickstarter), or wait for Steam upgrade, keeping PA in my Steam collection. Have any of you Ubernites got advice or thoughts on this? If so, please tell. Thanks for reading.
Welcome to the forums! Uber likes money. But it is a lot of money to spend on the same game, just for one thing, so it comes down to your own personal circumstances/wants.
Well, if you REALLY love the game, sure, support the game, buy another package. As for upgrading from Steam, https://forums.uberent.com/threads/upgrade-pre-order-for-steam-users.57134/#post-885267 is the place to look for that info. Edit: The exact post it links to doesn't matter, I meant the whole thread.
well, dont expect any upgrade from steam I am exactly in your situation, except that I bought the game in alpha, and I see that I get less recognition each update (as a second class player...) unfortunately, i will have to buy the expensive key as well
What do you mean, "less recognition as a second class player"? I don't see what the issue is that people have that bought the game on steam besides the delta commander thing. I don't have an issue with it, though I bought the alpha on the Uber Store shortly after the Kickstarter ended, so I'm not sure if that changes anything.
Is there any reason why higher tiers are in the Uber Store and not available on Steam? Do Valve get a cut? It could be cause Steam was full of people moaning about the price for months xD I converted my Uber Store key to a Steam one. You should be able to do the reverse and upgrade if the upgrades aren't on Steam in my opinion
Steam doesn't allow multiple packages on Early Access Games is what Uber had originally said. The fact that Valve does take a cut is true but isn't the reason for the Uber Store having different packages. Mike
Ah, cheers for clearing that up. Let's go and post on some Steam discussion somewhere, I'm sure that'll get things rolling lol.
@OP since you ask for advice: Don't buy the cosmic edition. I'm in the same situation as you and yes I also would like to spent money on it and get the Delta Commander. However like every business in the world, the only way to make them change something is usually related to money. Unless they don't change the fact that steam users can't upgrade their version, I won't get myself the cosmic edition. Also @eroticburrito there is a thread which I made yesterday to inform potential buyers at steam about this situation and advised them to buy it at the uberstore http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/0/558749191050573802/
It's not Uber's fault, Steam Doesn't allow for multiple packages on Early Access Games. If Steam would have allowed it, they would have had all the same packages on Steam as they don in thier own Store. Mike
i almost envy your position, because I'm trying to justify buying another key so I can play vs. my kids (who may or may not take to the game; thus my reluctance). any way having a 2nd key would benefit you, ala playing vs guests & friends, as a way to introduce the uninitiated to PA?
Thanks for replying! I think I'll go into Big Spender mode and buy from Uber store. Question: can I have two Planetary Annihilation games connected to one Uber account, Steam and Uber store versions?
That is not true. Steam didn't allow Uber to offer pre-orders next to alpha access of the game at the same time. But Steam does allow multiple tier packages for Early Access games (Example: http://store.steampowered.com/app/233450/)
Just re-read your post, wheeledgoat, it would be nice to have an extra copy for that purpose. I think it's settled, buying from Uber store it is.
i think paying, what, 250 euros on a game for a commander is a bit much, and you're better off waiting for new commanders or someone modding that particular commander in. Looking at the coupons, Uber might go down the League of Legends route and make (and sell) special commanders for money. Which i think is a "have your cake and eat it too" situation, AKA awesome.
Huh, I wonder if that's something more recent or something as I'm just going of what was said way back when PA first made it onto steam. Mike
It is something from PA first appearance on Steam. They asked Valve if they could offer pricey Alpha access and at the same time offer cheaper pre-orders, without immediate access to game. To that Valve said no.
