tail guns on t2 bombers yes or no?

    anyone thought about incorporating 1 or 2 small tail guns on the t2 bombers? nothing, powerful, just enough to stop 5 t1 fighters ripping apart your t2 bombers because you were looking somewhere else.

    This would be a better feature on torpedo bombers which should be coming once they fix water/underwater layer.

    This sounds a little... problematic, to say the least.
    I mean, when you say one plane can take out 5 planes, it doesn't sound like much in theory, but that means a squadron of 30 bombers will take out a maximum of 150 fighters.
    T2 bombers can already carpet an entire base in a couple of minutes, giving them the ability to destroy planes is incredibly unbalanced.

    they should have some kind of defence

    So instead build 25 bombers and 6 fighters?

    A tail gun isn't such a bad way to tell two bomber types apart. However keep in mind that extra firepower is going to cost extra. The bomber is not going to be as effective at its ground razing role if it's going to be loaded down with extra guns. That may not be such a bad thing if one were to consider the bombing a little too good and in need of an alternate tweak.

    but Five Fighters, only if the bombers are T-3 and you are playing SupCom

    Personally balance-wise it should be something like this.
    1 bombers vs 1 fighter= bomber loss
    2 bombers vs 1 fighter = draw
    3 bombers vs 1 fighter = bomber survives

    30 bombers vs 10 fighters = bombers win

    Okay, but that defense shouldn't be overpowering.
    Bombers outnumbered by fighters should be a loss, not a win.

    fighters are meant to fight air and bombers attack ground... don't make bombers be an all around unit and it shouldn't be bombers can fight off 1/2 their number of bombers as that will just lead to one unit spam... also if you can protect your bombers with your fighters then you are using fighters badly :/

    Do we need T2 bombers at all? It seems like the kind of straight power upgrade that they wanted to stray away from. The gunship is a much better fit for T2, it serves a different role from a straight up fighter or bomber. A torpedo bomber could be another special purpose unit that would fill a different role as well. Transports too.

    With balancing the Basic and Adv. Bombers differences should show up.

    Basic is supposed to be a highly focused attack bomber(1 bomb directly on target).

    Adv. Bomber is supposed to be a "carpet bomber"(bombs randomly hitting things in a line).

    I wouldn't go about "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" until we see a more solid and final balance for air.

    I'm really looking forward to see Air undergoing a balancing phase.

    So far the T1 Bomber is frankly a little more than useless.

    One of these is going to be weaker than the other. Either the carpet bombs do weak aoe damage that makes them useless, or they are just a straight upgrade to the one bomb.

    I feel like the original post is going more with what Total Annihilation did with it's tier 2 bombers, they got a small tail gun that shot at everything and hit ~ 30% of the time. It did minimal damage but supplemented any fighters you had escorting. Roughly every 3 tier 2 bombers was 1 less T1 fighter with T2 fighters being able to dodge the lazer entirely (unless a very lucky unintended hit).

    The TA AA lasers were terrible at actually shooting down planes.
