Yes it belive i tried all the combinations including: -starting from standalone install from both exes and launcher -uninstalling steam version and doing the above (exept the stuff with steam install) -installing steam version again and doing the same with it.
Okey decided to give it one last go. -no steam version installed -Installed from PAlauncher (again). Now launching directly from /PA/bin_x86 (standalone version) seems to work after second install, could it be that it needs to be installed again AFTER the updated drivers, or something. I really have no clue. x64 is still giving the same error. Ill post some more diags and logs if you need more data, when patches start to drop.
Ok. Originally had the appcrash (pa.exe has stopped working) on client launch. However after installing the latest drivers, discarding the steam install, installing and launching the standalone version directly from bin_x86 i got the client to start. Now there are several new problems. -Pa.exe has stopped working when trying to preview a planet in creator -Pa.exe has stopped working when trying to start a game -Untextured moon planet / completely black circle around the commander, propably the range indicator. (the only time i managed to get in game) -Unresponsive client when pressing Play game. Just empty screen with the backround and ambient sound, i can move cursor and alt tab to see that the client is still running. Doesn't seem to load anything. (dunno if has something to do with connecting to somewhere) Included Log and dmp are from the last attempt that led to pa.exe stopping working shortly after pressing publish game. Game was with default presets 1vs1 against AI with random 2 planet solar system.
It's normal behaviors for 32-bit client. That's happen because by default it's can only use 2GB memory. You need to apply 4GB patch on it to make it playable: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php Just patch bin_x86/PA.exe and it's will able to use up to 4GB and won't crash like that. It's will at least work as temporary workaround.
Sorry about wrong answer man, I'm really messed it because of tother guy in this topic. If you already tried to use non-Steam launcher (link) then there nothing else can actually improve performance a lot because your graphics card is really low-end. Most likely performance will be improved when devs implement more optimizations. For now I can only recommend stick to smaller moon/metal planets.
So I have another problem unit icons/metal spots haven't been popping up at all was watching a video and noticed that they're supposed to. In my settings they are turned on but i still can't see them...
