Hi everyone! I have a small web development company, and due to the fact that I love games, one of the fun things we like to do is work on website projects related to the games we are fans of. We have noticed there isn't much information available yet online about this game, so I'm really interested in creating a fan-site. On that site, we could have guides, articals, and also, I was hopeing to be able to include a type of ranking system which would calculate based on wins / losses, and other data. So the question I have is.. will you ever make available to developers the win/loss data of players of your game? Do you have any plans to offer API features? I think it's easy to only consider what makes a game good, but often times it is also the community which drives a game. As humans we are social creatures, and so we find ourselves more drown to games in which we are socially engaged. For this reason fan-sites, and player communities are very good. By supporting these communities with features that players can enjoy and draw value from, you fascilitate the growth of your player community as a whole. Thanks for considering! Luna
Sounds like a good idea. So good that it may have been already done. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-pa-stats-59549.50690/ There is always room for improvement, though.
Nah, this is a mod that lets people see their own stats. I'd prefer an API which gives win/loss data for all players. This means that Uber Entertainment Games would need to make the data available. I can't make a ranking system unless I can compare player data against others.
You could use the current PA stats mod and just send the stats to a remote database to be accessed and displayed on a fan site.
Uber is promised that the ubernet will provide us with ladders/stats and the like at some point. I've not heard of anything in regards to a possibility to get some sort of API access to the data. Would be cool.
So true. API access to the data is what makes https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-pa-mentor-v0-2-0.55399/ and unimaginable new things possible.
PA Matches. Largest, and only, PA Fan Site out there. More information there about PA than anywhere else. Tons of gameplay, largest and most accurate wiki out there, tutorials, mods, resources, tons of news, gallery, and more. An API would be pretty awesome though.
Uber plans on adding an official ladder. But that's low priority compared to other stuff. And then they'll probably have their own dedicated ladder website.
There's already a ladder based on PAstats: http://ladder.pastats.tk/ https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-planetary-automatic-ladder.54692/
Interesting. How did PA stats get it's data? Could we get the same data? It seems they are using a program to observe the P.A. Client? Does the P.A. client report information for all wins/losses? I don't really understand how this information is being mined.
Yupp. Coded the whole thing and, aside from the videos, pretty much added all the content. Have a redesign mostly finished, but no time to fully finish it. All of the constant site expansions to the current site doesn't help. lol PA Stats gets it data through the PA Stats mod. You should install it. It's an amazing mod. Even has matchmaking!
PA Stats is a UI mod that grabs data from people who have the mod. So it only knows about people who have the mod, currently that is a few hundred active users. Among the data reported is who won a game, however only if one of the reporters leaves over the score screen. If you want the same data, read this post where I explain some webservices it currently offers: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-pa-stats-59549.50690/page-10#post-845689 If you need more/other data for something cool, explain it and it just might happen.
This is very inconveiant for the users. I cannot ask each user to download a program. I know Ubernet is in the middle of development, and they likely aren't really to worried about providing this data, but please consider it in the future. Thanks! Luna
