I've made a few hundred off bitcoin mining.

EDIT:I don't have faith in the system, but not because of the 50%+1 attack paranoia people seem to be having.

Uber actually had some weird deal where you could get bitcoins for keeping SMNC or something open.

No, you mined bitcoins for some company, and they paid you in SMNC keys.

Wonder how much faster you'd get keys from that now.

Top prize in the tourney was 70,000 Dogecoin - it was $40 at the time but is now worth over $100

    LOL, doge, TO THE MOON!!!

I'm glad they decided to allow continual production of coins. Inflation isn't a great thing but deflation is bad too.. what is really needed is the money supply to increase with the amount of resources produced... ne ways it ensures ppl will continue mining it past 2040.. Bitcoin makes me a tad nervious.. I forsee all the miners leaving :S.. or many.

Mt Gox shut down and may have taken everybody's money. Now only dogecoin remains!

    Such scam. Much sneakiness. Wow.

Not entirely accurate. They were one of a handful of large bitcoin "banks". They did just vanish. They took a mass of the currency with them. They didn't just have bitcoins too.

Generally, they lowered bitcoin value by 70%, and dogecoin value by 40%. That's right, both fell.

Anyone remember that saying "buy low sell high"? Well congrads if you sold at $800 because that was a safe place to cash in. If you haven't invested at all and are skeptical, spend some money now, because tomorrow you could have nothing but in the odds that it restabalizes back at $600 or more you will get 6x your money and can hop out the safest chance you get.

Remember, these are not currencies, they could be worth absolute 0 tomorrow, but as long as they have these fluxing values, you can treat them like stock, and buy them when they are petty and low, and sell them when they shoot up and hope you dump them before they crash somehow.

Then again, one bad economic hiccup and even currencies can one day be worth nothing. Look at the Hungarian money after world war, resturaunts had to change prices by adding zeroes to the end every 10 minutes, increasing the price by a placeholder every ten minutes literally. That's some epic inflation and much worse than the bitcoin is doing. Pesos have done worse than the bitcoin did.

I always like comparing bitcoin to the inflation that went down in hungary or even syrbia. I work beside a guy that use to live in syrbia he was telling me about how he would go to work in the AM and on his way stop by the coffee shop he would go to later that day with his buddies and buy his coffee he was going to get later that night because it would go up 10x in price... He had a billion dollar note.... If that can be a currency...

I made a little bit so far on this "crash" I bought some more when they hit $515, bitcoin has been solid for always making a decent comeback.
