agreed, it needs to be more obvious that you are investing in an unfinished product, rather than purchasing a complete one.

you buy exp and champions in the shop, day 1 champions are always buffed to boost sales so you win thanks to them.
    It's the market of imbalance.

oh the irony, TB more or less lined up against early access:

    :( :( :(

he does bring up the point that people should not buy a early release game if they just want to play which I heartily agree with.
but I disagree with the bashing of the funding system in general.

That's actually the real problem here. So many people see it the way you were thinking about it. It isn't because they're willfully ignorant or trolling or anything though. It's just that the reasons for pricing take a while to explain, and uber can't go around having this conversation with every single person. I don't really know how they could have been clearer about it, but I guess they should have found a way.

Uber did more than enough to make it clear, I read a description on Steam before I hit the sales button, also "Early Access", oh wow, what is that? Well, read, find out, Uber cannot babysit people that are not willing to read, they also might not be willing to listen either. Things like this, especially when clearly stated, is more of a personal problem.

Nobody forces anybody else to fund kickstarter projects (with no guarantee of return) or buy early release products.. to each his own! I'm happy to have funded the kickstarter because seeing the development of the game has been fun, and it's always awesome to get in on the ground floor of something, especially once it grows.

These developers chose to make these things available. Looks to me like they've made some pretty wise and thought-out decisions so far. Whether they foresaw the tarnishing of the game's reputation by making the game available early or not.... who's to say. But we may be blowing that out of proportion.

We've got to remember: this is ground-zero. Give or take, this is the nucleus of the PA community right now. Of course we have a skewed perspective. The majority of the world out there doesn't know about PA (yet!). Hopefully, probably, our fears of having alienated players who prematurely judge PA based on alpha/beta releases are unfounded. In all likelihood, it's a pretty small number.

It's amazing how quickly gamers give up their dignity when it comes to the crunch. Just take any of the EA based game boycotts that never materialised. PA will be fine.

Speak for yourself. I've been very diligent with my Blizzard boycott, my brother never bought L4D2 (he didn't even download it that 1 day it was Free!)

More or less, yes. There are a lot of good points to his argument, and for the most part he's hit the nail on the head.
He does mention player burnout with Planetary Annihilation, but I don't think it would be much of an issue, for the same reason it's not an issue for other constantly-updated games; new content can negate player burnout fairly well. Of course, that doesn't work so well in a story-driven or linear single player game, but it works well in open world & multiplayer games.

Well, I've never said I was going to boycott, so I haven't gone back on anything. Well done sir, for keeping your integrity, but a lot of people didn't really care in the end :p

Basically what it all bores down to is the fact that youtube is just jam packed full of trolls all the time, try to find a youtube video that actually doesn't have any people trolling the video their watching, bet you wont be able to? people on the internet seem to think its just absolutely hilarious (sarcasm) to troll anything and everything on the internet. You just have to deal with it really there is nothing you can do about it. Another issue is the fact that peoples expectations can be totally different or "out there" to what the game might be capable of and expect a certain type of gaming experience that this game simply isn't going to do. This isn't a FA clone on a interplanetary scale, this is its own game, with havily influences on other games naturally and I think thats the message that needs to come across more rather than the fact it is still in beta, I think enough people know this game is still in beta with a fair ways to go before release. Thats not the problem. Its the fact people want it to me some sort of variant on the SupCom games.

People are also leaving out the modding capability of this game as well, which without a doubt is one of the most exciting aspects of this game right now in my opinion. I cant wait for people to start releasing and making completely new biome types, or what new cool awesome new units people are going to come up with, there is no doubt in my mind someone will absolutely create shield mods or shield bubbles which is going to be fking sweet !!! or what we all know as experimental units, or even completely new weapons. Perhaps a whole new tech tree? There was a mod for supcom2 which added all the units and buildings from FA, it left a momentously massive tech tree, which i can also see someone making.

There is so much left to finish in the game, you just simply cannot go by what people are saying in the comments. Just don't take everything said as a grain of salt and mark up your own opinion. Usually I take the good comments with the bad ones, but sometimes like in this instance, might just be better to concentrate on the good comments about the game so you know what is actually good about it and see if it has enough thats good. Form your own opinion on the footage at hand as well.

Personally, this is one of the best RTS games I've ever played, and I'm super hyped about the final end product what exactly is going to be capable in this game, with the base game itself as well as the modding community.

I totally agree... after the last few patches the beta is already in a nice state, very playable... at the same time you can see and feel where this game is going... not that I didn't knew before... :)

About modding, omg, look at the available mods already (sorry guys if I don't remember your names) but there is a mod manager out there already, making using mods super easy... game stats, eco helper, a mod that shows you how much buildpower/eco will be used and so on... just super amazing and the game is not even released yet!

Off topic but he is being polemic about it: in Dota 2 you can play all heroes right away, without buying any of them. Neither do you get stronger with increasing level, you will just get a cosmetic item after completing a level.
Again, you don't have to pay a cent or grind a minute to enjoy the game to full extend.

F2P can work without P2W, believe it or be ignorant about it.

Not repeating "You can buy the game at $50 there or there!" or "The game is on humble bundle or steam sales at 40% off!" every two days on the facebook page/twitter would help.

Actually, putting it at 40% or steam sales is making the kickstarter argument fails.

Instead "Help up making PA! Support Uber! Buy the access to the beta in Uber shop!" (and obviously, no Early Access crap).

You're the ignorant, everything runs on money, you'll figure that out when you finally have to pay bills.

You're against early access, but you paid for the level giving you early access. If it's just because you wanted to support Uber, why did you even start playing it
Zep, build you own software independant company, build such complex RTS software and then come back with arguments based on experience. You're doing a nice stuff with FAF, but losing lots of credibility with all this **** you keep spreading anywhere you can.

No, kickstarter is very different than early access. It's quite sad people are not seeing the difference.

In one case, you are giving what you want to make a game a reality. The reward is to have the game freely, among other stuffs, but well, they could have given nothing too.
The point is : you are NOT buying the game or a beta access.

In the second case, you are buying (and in Uber case, full price) the right to play a unfinished game.
I'm pretty sure most of the early access buyers bought it for playing, not supporting Uber.
It plays on players impatience to get their money. That's not nice.
On the other end, it makes selling unfinished games a ok thing. That's terrible.

If you don't believe me, think of that : Could you put a kickstater on sales or half price? Why not?

I don't need to own my own software independent company to say that what Uber is doing is worst than season passes, f2p (actually p2w), DLC, or whatever.
Being independent or small is no excuse.

Actually, they should show the right way, because they ask people on that premise "We are good, we are trying to make games but editors don't give us money, help us!".
Doing what Uber is doing now, I'm quite sad giving them money on kickstarter.

They saw that money could be made easily, and they went for it fully.
Good for them, but don't play the "editors are not nice" card then.
I feel betrayed. And for that, I'm quite glad they have negative feedback from players who tried PA in early access. That's what companies that play that "game" deserves.

Some bigs companies are trying to get their way with crowdfunding (ie. Square Enix http://collective.square-enix.com/).
Soon, you will see big company selling "Big license 2015" in early access a month after the release of "Big license 2014", and they won't even have to finish it.

And please stop saying that they already do that.
They surely released buggy and unfinished games, but it's not even close to the state of PA.
And they are still making FREE beta.
