When you look at the time and money put INTO the game, I am happy with what we, as players, are getting OUT of the deal. Indeed, I think what has been achieved in such a small space of time and with fairly moderate financing is truly amazing.
Even if Mavor did have the absolute say about some features that fans wanted, he is within his creative rights to as a developer, and I think a LOT of player feedback has been taken into consideration during development of this game. Anyone saying otherwise is either ignorant or trolling.

    I'm not worried at all.

Good games ultimately win. If PA will be such (and it is on the right track to be), it will earn what it deserves.

    Simple as that.

It'll be interesting to see what all happens when the game is released and people start looking at it again.

I've talked with SupCom players and they dismissed it without much of a thought or hardly any research.

I can't wait until it's released and players take a closer look at PA.

    We'll see...

I'm hoping that when it is finally released, most people will be happy with where it is at (especially the developers lol) and that a decent publicity push will see it do nicely. I think the game has a lot going for it, so will be happy to share articles and tell my friends when the time comes.

I'm going to *once again* pull Planetside 2 into this conversation.

The community literally BAWLED about so many features of PS2, that the devs LITERALLY scrapped their well-prepared update calender to work on the popular stuff.
I warned them, many other members of the community who saw what was coming warned them. They implemented the popular stuff, and the game promptly went downhill. THere were other reasons, yes, but gameplay is so stale for me now that its almost unplayable.

Almost. Its still pretty epic :D
Unless you are going to give specifics, I will have to ask you to stop flaming with vague comments.

That said, Mavor and crew are following a vision for PA that was clearly laid out a LONG time ago. Just watch the kickstarter video again - that's what the game is supposed to be. There are some alterations they will be implementing, but they are carefully explained and logically supported.

Just because Battlefield 3 didn't incorporate everything awesome from BC2 doesn't mean it sucks. Stop trying to give PA the *if not equal to FA* treatment. It's not fair to the developers - and they don't want to copy stuff anyway.

Well, i've seen it personally happen with ideas relating to Orbital mechanics and Megabots off the top of my head. After some searching I could give you quotes if you like... But what does that accomplish?

Presumably substantiative evidence to back up comments that could be considered flaming. Not that I'm bothered. Just sayin'.

It keeps uninformed readers from remaining uninformed, and it stops the rumor mill before it starts. (yet another lesson I learned from PS2.....)

There are logical and sound reasons why megabots are not going to be added by Uber. There is a thread for that. Orbital mechanics are just fubar right now and I would take everything regarding them with a grain of salt.

what's the problem though? technically faf is an ongoing open beta. It's in the same kind of situation but less people heard about FAF than the number of people that backed PA on kickstarter. Considering all of this it's pretty impressive that nowadays we're hitting 960 people in FAF.

And I'd just like to highlight what a utopia this is : ...nearly a thousand people in one chat lobby with full posting privileges, no bot moderators just human ones and NOT ONE TROLL. we all cohabit peacefully.

I'm sure you can't say you're not impressed by this.

FA is not open beta. It is a game that had many years to develop by now.

Fa is a finished game .... no dev is working on it anymore ...
It does't matter if its fans mod it ... official support has ceased to happen so it's not an ongoing beta anymore ... for years ....

FAF greatly but simply maintain the ability to play FA. Faf core is FA.

no what I mean by that is that since FAF has started, work on making FA better has never stopped. (whereas THQ cut the bridges with their community and the last patch CT was working on)

in that sense it's just what PA is promising for after their release.

FAF done great work on balance and lobby/networking, but that's all about it. Unfortunately you can't fix any serious issues of pre-compiled 32-bit blob even if you're reverse engineering genius.

What is done to FA is awesome, but in the end it is only modding. It has nothing to do with real support from the developers. Sadly.
