It would be nice if there was a network overlay (packets in/out, bytes in/out) that we could toggle to see if/how/maybe network bandwidth is an issue if/when it is. Maybe there is? @SXX?

I'd like to thank everyone for their input so far. As you can probably tell I'm a bit frustrated but any help is obviously appreciated. I still feel that such a huge jump in bandwidth seems over the top considering I haven't noticed any changes that explain that much of an increase in bandwidth usage. Hopefully an Uber employee could give us more light on the topic and explain if the bump is intentional and here to stay. Or if it's acknowledged but will be optimised in the future. Or even if it's a mistake and they'll fix it soon.

Not as long as I know, but you can simply use Wireshark. It's just not too easy to ask people do that.

I get this as well. After 15 minutes or so the game freezes for minutes at a time. During the time in which the game freezes I get a respectable 15-20 FPS. I have gigabit internet and do not use WiFi and I have not had issues before this. I do, however, live in Japan and probably have a fairly slow ping. The latest game I played was against 1 AI and a simple 2 planet generated system.

Use resource monitor in windows. Click on the network tab and select pa.

I have also noticed the game can easily use 5mb/s since the last patch.

    Hi,

I just got out of a game, where I experienced a massive slowdown, after about 5-10 minutes. Refresh dropped to about 1/minute. And they were probably no more than a couple hundred units on a single planet, in a random generated system.

Anyone have any ideas on steps to help troubleshoot?

    Thanks!
