so i know we wanted a bit more action packed game but now the pace is almost to fast. you pretty much have to kno exactly what works now and be a lightning fast mouse guru. doesnt seem very inviting to new players. the game is so extremely fast paced atm.

Having Teleporters in T2 might help with that. I don't like how easy to access they are atm.

its not just that its that fact that anything and everything is built instantly, regardless of eco or anything else. i know costs were reduced but it seems like they just flippped the 5x button on the game and let us have it

im fine with teleporters btw. extremely upset that the game has gone to the man with the most precision mouse available

Still too much to go into the game before we can really say with any certainty how the Pace is IMO.

High APM will always beat out lower skilled players.

It's a simple fact. Players who do more... well, do more. Thus, they do better.

My main issue so far, is that the patch has been Too awesome. Hear me out. When I try to play a game, my crappy internet freezes my game every once in a while, for like 5 mins. This is because there are sooo many people trying out the new update, it wouldn't happen normally. So I suggest that the next update be a liiitle bit less awesome, and then maybe I can get some FPS.

Just kidding, I'd trade FPS for an update this awesome any day! :D

I'm sorry Knight but that's no longer a reasonable way to dismiss people. This is a iterative process that we are part of. Similarly the fact uber have done a major rebalance means we can no longer deflect people or threads who raise balance issues.

    It's all game.

But on the flip side, it could change just because of new things being introduced, never mind the existing things being changed.

I guess it really comes down to phrasing for me.

Eventually we may get a slider in the game setup lobby that will let us manipulate the speed of an individual match. Then everyone can be happy. If there is an official ladder though, that may be set to a "faster" speed. I suppose we'll find out "soon" enough...

Part of the APM sink is the lack of infinite repeat queues. If I could queue up one Dox on infinite repeat, managing production would be much more efficient in terms of clicks required.

Low cost of energy and build power, as well as the high yield of each mex means that relatively little land, and relatively little time are required to get a really large economy and large amount of production going. It works well, but high APM really is very advantageous for expansion, economic expansion, and production.

Ideally, although the economy is the main strategic focus, the economy shouldn't be a huge APM sink. It should be a major strategic concern, but not click-intensive. Players should probably be able to spend most of their time and APM in battle, making tactical decisions (but not making individual units dodge bullets).

We have infinite build queues now! Its one of the options in the dropdown menus on the right.

Oh, I had not noticed. That is marvelous. The UI for it is a bit odd though. Shouldn't the build orders be with the build options?

We actually do have infinite build queues now.

Part of the issue is that it is quite easy to get ungodly amounts of combat units early. At the moment it's more because of decreased build time than cheap economic expansion.

Nah because it's with the power commands. It makes sense, even if its not 100% logical.

I think Uber gave that menu a tweak all around. It seems like you can't tell units to do stupid stuff anymore, like tell fabbers to only fire at will.

i agree the game is incredibly fast now, i think you can have an asteroid smashing within 25 minutes easily.

Well this is only a problem because of the APM required to actually spend your resources and the relatively cheap and quick process of energy construction. If energy was more expensive then it would take longer to scale up your economy.

With regards to the number of combat units that can be acquired, that's not actually a big problem in my opinion. It just means PA deals with more units than other RTS games (which is awesome). Large armies is a major selling point. Big groups available early just means really big groups available later, assuming the engine can handle them.

The issue is that there are few tactical options other than just making enormous hordes of units. Such as, say, more expensive basic units, more expensive support options, and generally more unit diversity. I would like to see expensive tanks, air support, and other options on top of large armies of basic troops.

I mean, if you play Zero K with nothing but Glaives you might have the same criticism about "so many units." Glaive warz is fun, and a good early game foundation for players to mix in other units, but by itself it is lacking in depth.

It's not actually related to APM.. the APM required is quite low.

It's because previously you could expect 50 Ants to trundle into your base just after the 10 minute mark.

Now you can expect 50 Bots to do the same at the 8 or 9 minute mark, and also have those Ants turning up later.

There you go. If you survive both those attacks it's Asteroid smash at 25 minutes. Looks like I may just have been invalidated out of multiplayer.
