First of all, I'd like to express my opinion that MNC is a fantastic game, more than meeting my expectations. It's also the only one of the three games I was really looking forward to this summer that didn't end in massive disappointment (the others being Crackdown 2 and APB, which I still can't talk about without getting angry), so thank you for that. Now comes the part where I start complaining. I cannot overstate my disappointment about the glaring omission of heal assists. If I'm playing as Assault/Gunner, and 2 bullets from my automatic weapon hit a fully cloaked Assassin on the other side of the map, then she gets flattened by a Tank that she made the mistake of charging, I get the assist for that. But if I've walked a jackbot from my team's base, keeping it at full health the entire way, and I'm still healing it as it takes fire from and then ring-outs half of the other team, I don't get anything. If I'm playing as Assassin, and a stray shuriken ricochets off of 6 walls to hit a player as he buys bots, and he gets sniped 40 seconds later, I get an assist for that. But if I'm playing as Support and I keep a Gunner overhealed while he demolishes the entire enemy team, pops his juice, and razes their defensive turrets to the ground, I don't get a single dollar. Why the inconsistency? Because of this, some of the best Support players I've seen will finish 0-0-2 and receive practically no money, even though they were a very important part of the victory. I play a lot of Support, and I already have all the class slots/titles unlocked that I would ever want to use, so I don't personally mind sacrificing my own personal score to make sure that our jackbot gets up close and personal with that money ball. But for brand new players who want a lot of money to unlock stuff, shouldn't you guys incentivize being a good Support player a little bit, so that we can take one with instead of for the team?
I also play support but maybe I play it a little bit differently because more often than not i do extremely well. Although I think it might be a bit op if you got assists for healing bots, like the jackbot because that can kill so many people so easily. I do think there should be SOMETHING for healing people as they get kills. It really gives you no incentive to put yourself in danger to heal others as is. I will usually set up an outpost outside their base and heal people near me or heal people if they are low and retreating but I usually wont follow a single individual into their base unless the shield is down on the money ball....and even then I'm attacking it not healing.
You are absolutely out of your mind if you think Support should be getting +$15 for heal assists. That is grossly imbalanced. Support is extremely strong right now and very easy to gain money with as it is already. If some of the "best" support players you've seen are going 0-0-2 you have not seen some of the best support players. Not even close. Support doesn't need any more incentive. They are one of the strongest classes and have a great array of abilities.. I'm sorry that following around your friend holding RT isn't racking up huge numbers on the leaderboard. Keep playing a bit more and you'll probably realize this for yourself. Until then, keep up the quality healing, but remember you need to do a LOT more than healgun things.
First of all, you can drop the assumption that I don't know what I'm talking about. A good support player geared to take hits, doing nothing but healing the very first jackbot that spawns, can almost single handedly win a game. Me and the two friends I usually play with have done this a few dozen times now. You talk about "good" Support players, but what you obviously mean is people who do nothing but hide behind their firebases. Firebase campers can't consistently win in less than 2 minutes, so I'd love to hear what makes them the good ones. Furthermore, I never said that I thought Support classes should get the full $15 for anyone they're healing getting a kill. I simply said that they should get something, because as things are now there is no direct incentive of any kind to heal your teammates at all, which is why almost all Support players use a "take care of my sentry gun, and everyone else be damned!" policy. I've burned to death countless times within 5 feet of a friendly Support, who was either healing his already-overhealed firebase, or staring at me with his shotgun equipped. But to get to the core of your argument... are you really saying that you think getting $15 for an accidental "assist" on a player you didn't even know was there, who was later killed by a teammate you never saw using an instant kill attack... you think that a person trying to keep his teammates alive is less deserving of in-game reward? Or are you simply doing what it sounds to me like you're doing: crying about how overpowered the Support class is because you don't know how to use grenades or mortars?
I don't think support is OP at all, they're very balanced as is. People are still learning the ropes of the game and it's easy for people to think support is OP right now, but, there are strong counters to support and more people will realize them as time goes on. Don't misconstrue me as whining about the class being overpowered. They WOULD be overpowered if they were awarded assists for healing. Furthermore, there are stats that track how much healing you do, so there's some of the incentive you're looking for, with the main incentive being winning the match. Because the way assists work in this game, awarding $15, it would not be a viable option to award assists for healing. Would you like an extra column in the leaderboard just for the support class? There just isn't any room left for another statistic to track for healing other than the ones already in place. That is the core of my argument. Anyway, in regards to your comment about getting random assists, that something that goes for every class, support included. Especially with their firebase and ability to hack friendly player's turrets. Support classes are exactly what they say they are, support. Healing is a very small part of it. You need to utilize all your abilities, and there are incentives for all of them. I'm sorry you've been getting into matches with poor players, but it's a brand new game and people are still figuring things out. So, what exactly is it that you want? From what I can tell, you're already getting everything you originally wanted. Finally, keep up the good work as an active support player. You don't need to try and instigate something out of me by insinuating that I'm crying and imply I need to learn to play. Keep it civil, and just step back for a moment and realize what you want is already there.
Little known fact.... anyone who does damage to a target gets put on the assist list. The assist list is cleared when the player fully regenerates his health. So all you have to do is a tiny bit of damage to the target to get an assist.
a support cant usually do a tiny bit of damage from any range easily and also keep a heal up. im asking for a very tiny assist script for the support myself. an assist on every kill anyone he heals gets for the rest of their life? no... assists for kills made by the pro he is currently healing, barring that he has been healing him for over 5 seconds already and is still healing him at time of the kill? sure. that would just earn the same money for healing pros as it does for killing bots in a lane or camping a firebase/base-turrets.
you cant overheal a jackbot post-patch, nor can you give it a passive-level-2-support-healing-aura. you can heal its damage, and if its fully healed, you can still heal it for juice, tho no additional health actually goes to the jackbot past its normal 100% anywho, i just argue that supports could use assists as cash reward for healing pros. otherwise, there is no incentive to do that opposed to building turrets, camping a firebase, and/or pushing bots. all those give a mediocre cash reward, while healing alone gives you a pitiful cash reward if you cannot manage to get a kill yourself (not constantly focusing on healing is dangerous for both of you) or destroy some turrets while your out. getting assists only for the current pro your healing, and only when you have already beein healing him for 5 seconds or longer, makes it hard to stack healing-based-assists with other things, such as working in base, bot lanes, turrets, ect. yet, it still rewards enough so that someone is encouraged to help their teammates instead of themselves. some people wont give any teammates a heal ever, unless a reward is offered for it. might be impossible to implement this in a update, but think about it when a sequel is made, when any other big tweaks are thought of.
Supports should most definitely get heal assists. For sure. Determining how much healing warrants an assist will be an interesting thing for Uber to balance if they do implement it. I can see it getting abuseable if not done right.
im for this namely for the assist point on the scoreboard i dont think heal assist should be anymore than 5$
That I would concur. Anything beyond that and a good Support could easily make more money than the best Assault/Assassin/Tank on the team and could afford not only to build more turrets (namely Longshots) but crash down more Gap Shots and still have enough to start picking up Annihilators. But in all honesty, I'm fine with the Support as is. Maintain a good spot with your Firebase controlling bot lanes and enemy progression and you can pretty much just wreck up a ton of cash.
WANT. NOW. But, in all seriousness, there's no real reason for you not to get an Assist from this. You're Assisting your team. It just wasn't considered, or needed, pre-patch. Now, it is. As it is, the little guy is forced behind his turrennts for any decent way to make cash. You could always hide in your base, but if you press the offense, what the enemy does to your base doesn't matter. Not like you WANT to have to use your turrents. Or, like they would stand half a chance against any juiced class. If a Support wants a viable way to help out the team with money, at least, heal Assists are needed. Otherwise, it's the same ol', same ol'. I'm on fire, dying, but that Firebase isn't overhealed enough. It's only been there for ten minutes undisturbed. I die, and the Support wonders why I was blocking his Firebase's view.
my forum name is same on xbox live, and steam. you need to play with me on mnc while i do support. you may regain faith in humanity. i saved at least 8 burning allies from dying completely in the same night.
