Currently, with interplanetary travel, units will behave somewhat realistically, and although they're moving at ridiculous speeds, those ridiculous speeds are what make interplanetary games playable. If units were to travel with similar speeds, then interstellar games in Galactic War would be agonizing to play once players entered the "Interstellar Stage." Personally, I think that players should have the option of building something in orbit, be it a new type of orbital transport or something else, that will dramatically increase the speeds at which units move between star systems. I would like to see everyone's ideas about interstellar travel in Galactic War, be it in support of a faster means of transportation, or against it. Possibly even unit/building ideas, or really anything that you think will contribute to the discussion. -5donuts
The catch is that there just isn't any Interstellar gameplay planned at all, all games take place within a single system at a time, even Galactic War. Mike
the galactic war is not a full, galaxy in witch you can be moving armies between them. its more like a strategy turn based thing with each part in between that you play as a real battle. (correct me if i got any thing wrong or missed something.)
Okay, in that case I suppose I just didn't understand what the Galactic War gameplay would actually be like, and assumed that it would be like interplanetary gameplay.
Yeah the Timbits of info regarding Galactic War were really spread out across the forums and some people just aren't familiar with Meta-games. That's why I created the PSA thread I Linked too, to that gather all the information into a single easily referable source. Mike
What it means is, it's a campaign. I.e. It's a Risk board. You look at the Risk Board, and you decide where you want to move your armies or whatever. Then you move them there. Then you "roll the dice" (i.e. you play a skirmish) Pretty cool huh? Having played the Rise of Nations version of the same thing, it's going to be interesting what kind of twist they'll put on it. E.g. With RON, if you'd played the invasion of Japan from China before, and won, it seemed like most of your stuff would still be on the map. Maybe I imagined that. But the invasion of Japan from China would be a land map with lots of land on both sides, and a sea in the middle. It made Geographic sense. I'll be interested to see how they give us that kind of context with map design in the GW.
OOHHHHH please implement a new style Risk metagame, where you have to achieve certain objectives in a match to get shiny rewards.....pipe dream, I know.
