    Hi. I had never such problem in any game and all my 196 steam games.
    When I click "play Monday Night Combat" in my steam library, I get "no input" on my display. Seems that this game developers think that the default resolotion should be 1280X800, when EVERY other game, (especially Unreal3 games) sets your DEFAULT resolution to 1024X768, or at least, checks for your default display resolution.

    Well, since this game tries every time to run with 1280X800, even if I changed it before in the config or ingame, I cannot play it.

    GG, I already asked steam to refund me since this game (thanks god) is still "pre purchase".
    Bye.

    There must be a way to set the resolution from outside the game. I'm no wizz at that stuff, but there must be a config file where that's possible. Just search through the forums or wait until someone in this topic bothers to tell you how to do it. Don't give up that easily.

    Thanks for your tip but I already did this.
    The problem is, I have to do it EVERY time before I can play it.
    And if I forget to do it, the computer will freeze with black screen and "no input" in the middle of the screen so I cannot even quit the game or CTRL ALT DEL, so the only option is to shut down the computer and restart it.

    I mean, if the developers did not think about such a simple resolution check, I am afraid that this game will be total failure (another bugs etc)

    There is, and it's easy to do.

    In
    Code:
    %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\HostileGame\Configs\HostingEngine.ini
    look for the section beginning with
    Code:
    [SystemSettings]
    and you should find a pair of fields with the values
    Code:
    ResX=1280
    ResY=800
    Just change those to something more sensible.

    However, 1280x800 is the 16:10 brother to 1280:720 - that being a very common HD television standard. Considering this game was first designed for the console environment (which needless to say uses televisions) it makes a fair bit of sense.

    I have many "console ports" in my steam library. All of them works perfectly on my "old" display.
    And as I mentioned before, why do I have to change the resolution settings EVERY TIME before I want to play this game?

    Don't be an idiot. You only have to do this once, now quit ya' crying and go fix it.

    What on Earth are you doing to the game then? I did this to mine and it worked perfectly. The lack of other people with this problem seems to indicate that the issue is with your computer.

    Have you checked the read-only permissions on the config file?

    Are you absolutely sure you're changing the right one? UE3 games usually have one or two default files tucked away where they're installed that copy over to the ones for your profile.

    Even if you only manage to get the game started in the right resolution once, you can then proceed to change it in-game and after that it should stay that way. You must be doing something wrong. Also: the recent patch restored all configurations to default values. Are you sure that that's not your problem?

    Did you also try to make the config file a read-only file? Because that should definitely take care of the problem.

    Try setting it to read only then. That prevents the file from being altered.

    Okay, so something is making the game write-over your HostileEngine.ini with the default one (unless you posted the default one, but I'll assume that you haven't).

    That really shouldn't happen. It might be possible that the game isn't being given permission to read files in your profile.

    Where are the MNC files installed to? If it's in Program Files (and you're running Vista/7) then that might be the cause. Or if you've got some special settings for your profile, maybe moved it to a secondary drive.

    The game is in beta. There will be issues.

    Just set the file to Read-Only after editing it.

    Changing default res to something more universally compatible.
