Challenge: How fast can you beat the AI?
Rules: Simply beat the AI. (however, if the AI glitches and stops building, that doesn't count)

Why? For fun and bragging rights.

For consistency sake, we should all use the same planet. Try this one:
    Biome: Moon
    Seed: 14681
    Radius: 750
    Height Range: 22
    Biome Scale: 29

Go for it and may the best player win! Bonus brownie points for posting video proof or a link to a PA Stats page.

Check out the 2 AI challenge.

Predicted strategy: Build one air factory, one firefly, and as many bombers as you can muster. Find AI. Charge Commander and bombers at it.

Edit: As it turns out, this was a terrible strategy. I managed to walk away from the AI while scouting for him, and then couldn't resist harassing the AI with bombers. He has proceeded to charge my lone air factory while I'm halfway across the planet chasing him... And a failed attempt to build a naval factory is involved as well. Going on 15 minutes.
Edit2: 15 minutes and about 58 seconds. The AI charging my starting location was its way of giving up, even though it still had some sad semblance of a war machine building because of leftover air fabbers.

New strategy: Harass it with fireflies and fighters until it gives up and charges your starting location.

The AI is weird. Some times it's aggressive and i get early rushes from the AI, other times they don't seem to bother me, and then i realize they haven't even reached Advanced units yet even after an hour playing. They are still pumping out long streams of t1 units (mostly ants) but my peltiers deal with them no problem. So at that point, i'll either nuke them (since they have no anti-nukes) or if i feel like it.. go off world and set up some Halleys and smash a planet on them.

Oh, actuality I think I figured out why the AI gets like that. Since the AI doesn't do navy, and if the planet has too much water it gets dumbfound and just sits there pumping out T1 units with out upgrading anything.

I'm guessing the best strategy will be to Commander rush with fabricator support. The AI probably isn't intelligent enough to properly counter it.

I got 11 minutes with a quick bot raiding party and forward proxy base. 3 scamper raiders early on ensured he never built anything, and I had him boxed in with scouts from 3:00. Almost got him in 10:00 but he rushed my bot factories :). This screenshot was taken just a few seconds after he detonated! Screen Shot 2014-01-06 at 23.26.42.png

7:40, relatively close spawn and early scout with the AI in water. Usual tactic of air harassment, followed by a Benny Hill chase. I did have to repair my Com with a couple of air fabbers and even landing an uber cannon hit my Com still survived with only <10% health, because my Commander's bullets weren't hitting during some of the chase. Apparently there are circumstances where the Commander's special issue robot-seeking bullets won't seek.

I'm also thinking the AI won't 'surrender' before a certain time period, possibly 10 minutes.

I'm using an Earth planet with 50 water height, since the earth template is the first option in the system editor. <- Lazy!

I think this should be done on a moon or lava (with low "water" height) biome, it maximizes the effectiveness of the AI.

Getting a water started AI is no fun or challenge.

So the AI commander rush is not just in my imagination?! I've played a bunch of games against the AI where he is suddenly charging my base with his commander.. I thought it was a glitch.

    My bad. Moon.

Trying to avoid water due to the issues with the AI and water.

Ooooh Neat!! What was your AI level set to?

My best bet at beating the AI was whenever their Commander charged into my base all by his lonesome. :p Other than that, the AI's pretty good at destroying me!

And it's only going to get worse, huh? :p

Time of death, 5:47. Possibly gang-related shooting.

AI eco lvl 1, the planet Brian described. He died fighting, though, the champ!

Damn it. . . I failed because my ******* fabbers counted as combat units.

Haha, wait, what? You failed? The AI killed you? Whaddya' mean the fabbers counted as combat units? lack of comprehension -> curiosity ;)

I mean I failed as in I timed out. Time to beat was 10:57, before I saw your post.

And I mean I made my fabbers build factories, then I drag-selected all the units in a certain area, and it selected the fabbers as well, so they never built the factories, but instead marched off to their death.

    LOLZ

Y'know, I would actually love to see a video of those two minutes or so.

    C'est la vie.

5:47, you slugs! MY HOUSE! ...just don't ask me to play against a human, with their brains and such. :p

Just gave it a whirl and did it at 12 minutes. I tried doing a Commander rush and the Commander was way too slow. Took forever to walk over there. So I blitzed bombers and the bombers took out the Commander before my Commander got there.

This is gonna be a lot more fun of a challenge than I originally thought.

When it comes to dropping whup-a$$ on a defenseless, half-finished set of algorithms, I'm basically the best there is, so I really wouldn't bother. I'M RUNNIN' THIS BEEZY.
