    Hi all, -just wondering if anyone else have the same problem as I;
When creating a game, all planets comes up as normal, but I am not presented with insertion zones. Thus I cannot start playing the game.

Win 7 64bit, crap internet speed because my darling wife raped the quota. New quota 1 Jan 2014.

Yes there was people with same problem and problem usually caused by:
    1. Outdated/broken mods.
    2. Outdated video drivers. Get latest drivers from AMD/Nvidia/Intel website.

No joy. No mods and the latest nVidia driver installed. Still no insert zones. I had them yesterday, not today.
    Other suggestions?

    - Asus Maximus V Formula
    - EVGA GTX690 Hydro
    - Win 7 64bit
    - i7-3770k @ 4.4GHz
    - 16GB DDR3 2400MHz

    It's possible dual-GPU issue.

I'm not 100% sure about GTX 690, but I guess you should have option to disable second GPU ( like you disable SLI) in Nvidia Control Center. Actually you can only create profile for "bin_x64/PA.exe" and only disable it for PA.

Another thing that I see, is that the game is totally maxing out my physical memory, even with only a simple two small planet system. Chewing through my RAM until it hits 14.7GB! That is rather unexpected from a game this small ( not that my opinion about mem usage necessarily is relevant, but still... )

    How big is your planet?

Let's say its radius 5000. That planet is the same size as Mars.

I can play fine with 8gb of RAM. Keep the planets under 1000.

If the problem is related to hardware disregard this post.

The game was a simple skirmish against AI. The smallest, a class two, and the other class 4. I guess class 4 is quite big, and all my settings are set to the highest possible. I also ran that one on single GPU already.
It is so strange that I have no insertion zones at the beginning of the game... Day before yesterday it was all fine, then suddenly the day after... plopp... no insertion zones. Nothing changed in my system ( as far as I know ). If I let the game run, after a long delay my commander spawns in on itself at a random place but by then my enemy has a huuuge head start and is unbeatable.
Maybe if I tune down my settings...

After a long delay the server autospawns everybody for the first time. It does not give players who ready first a headstart.

Ok right. I don't know sorry.

Can you please upload your DxDiag.txt here?

    Also open this directory:
    C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\
And upload few log files from here as well. I just wonder if there something useful in game logs.

    All right, will do.
I tried it again today and had the insertion zones as normal?! I am starting to think it may be my internet connection that simply was too slow.

This is quite possible, I had such issues a while ago when I tried to play with somebody from Australia on an AU server. In a second game we tried to play on an EU server and suddenly it was the other way around and the AU-player had the issues.

    What speed had your internet?

Yeah, I've played a few games without problems now, so it must have been the internet speed.
I think I was capped by Optus @ 128KB/s for a while in the end of Dec.

a radius 5000 is too big for the average computer to handle. the slider does not even go that far.
how did you even load it?

He have enough RAM for it. Depends on planet type and height range 16GB can be enough for 5000 planet.

You don't need to use slider, you can input any number into radius field directly.

I get this too. If I wait for the system to completely load before entering the game (wait for the light to turn from red to yellow to green and then press the button) there is no problem.
